Half an hour had passed since Ember said goodbye to her family, maybe forever. Ember was lost in thought when she looked up as the door opened. Serena entered with Logan. The boy tribute and Ember's new training partner, Logan, had a confident and determined look on his face. Ember couldn't help but feel a surge of motivation as she realised she wasn't alone in this fight. With Logan by her side, they would push each other to their limits and support one another through the grueling training ahead. Together, they would defy the odds and show the Capitol that they were more than just pawns in their twisted game.
Ember sighed quietly as she and Logan were taken to the train that would transport them to the Capitol. As they settled into their seats, Ember couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension. She knew that the journey ahead would be filled with challenges, but she also knew that with Logan by her side, they had a fighting chance to come out victorious. Ember hadn't been to the Capitol since she was eleven. After that attack from Aiden Blythe, who was somehow the president, Ember couldn't shake off the memories of that traumatic incident, which made her uneasy about returning to the Capitol. However, she reminded herself that things had changed since then, and she hoped that the current situation would be different. As the train started moving, Ember glanced at Logan, finding solace in his unwavering support and determination.
Logan looked strong, but he was barely a teen; he was around Ember's age, and yet he carried himself with a maturity beyond his years. Ember admired his resilience and trusted in his ability to protect her. She knew that together, they would face whatever challenges awaited them in the Capitol. Logan could sense Ember's nervousness a mile away. "Are you scared?" he asked softly, his voice filled with concern. Ember hesitated for a moment, her eyes meeting his reassuring gaze. "A little," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "The last time I came here, the guy who's president tried to attack my family, and I saw firsthand the chaos and destruction he caused. It's hard not to be scared, but I believe in us and our ability to make a difference." Logan squeezed her hand gently, offering his support. "We won't let history repeat itself," he reassured her. "We'll do whatever it takes to keep you and your family safe. Together, we'll overcome any obstacles that come our way."
"But history is repeating itself. Our whole lives, the Hunger Games were a thing of the past! Now, they're back and threatening our peace once again. It's disheartening to see how easily the cycle of violence can resurface. However, we must stay strong and united in our fight against injustice."
"Ember, I saw how you stood up for your sister during the reaping," he continued. "Your bravery and selflessness inspired not only me but the entire district. We need leaders like you to remind us that we are not alone in this battle. Together, we will create a better future, free from the horrors of the Hunger Games."
"You mean like how my mom did during the uprising?" Ember asked, her voice filled with hope. "Yes," he replied, a glimmer of determination in his eyes. "Your mother's courage and sacrifice still resonate with us all. She showed us that even in the darkest times, there is always a flicker of hope. And now, it's our turn to carry on her legacy and ensure that no one else has to endure the same pain."
"They say history won't repeat itself, but it is... I took my sister's place like mom did for Aunt Prim. I couldn't let her suffer the same fate. It's our duty to break the cycle and create a better future for the next generation, but she was killed before she could see the change we were working towards. Her death only fuels our determination to fight even harder for justice and equality. We will not let her sacrifice be in vain, and we will continue to push for a world where no one has to fear the same fate."
"Embrace what happened when your family was attacked. Why would they attack the daughter of the Mockingjay?" Logan asked Ember took a deep breath, her eyes filled with both sadness and determination. "My mother was a symbol of hope and resistance against oppression," she explained. "Attacking me was an attempt to silence that message and instill fear in those who dare to challenge the status quo. But we refuse to be silenced. We will honor my mother's legacy by standing up against injustice and ensuring that her fight for a better world lives on."
