"And then I said okay."

"You said okay!" Zelda shrieked.

Alison put her hand over Zelda's mouth to shut her up. "We're in the library for goodness sake."

"Mmm," Zelda mumbled with Alison's hand still covering her mouth. She pulled away and her brows furrowed. "Does this mean you like him too?"

"I don't know anymore, I agreed without thinking. This doesn't happen often," Alison said with embarrassment. She was still not comfortable with the topic but Zelda had literally forced her to spill. "Plus, we're just going to study."

"He wants to spend some alone time with you, dumbass. It's definitely not just studying. Y'all might start kissing and making out."

The thought of that caused Alison's heart to pound rapidly in her chest.

They were both sitting cross-legged on the floor of the library, surrounded by rows of books, creating a cozy atmosphere. The initial plan was to study but instead, they were fully immersed in their discussion; especially Zelda. Her face animated with excitement and curiosity as she leaned slightly forward, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

"I used to hate Jace so much," Zelda said. "But lately, him being a lover boy just paints him in a different light. I'm impressed!"

"Shhh," Alison hushed her. "Someone's gonna hear you."

"No one's here!" She yelled, her giggles echoing through the library. "It's almost past curfew."

"It is?" Alison looked at the big clock.

Indeed, it was almost 11.00pm. She got up and gathered her things.

"I knew something was up with Jace because the way he dragged you to the storage room without hesitating..." she trailed off once they left the library.

"What?"

"Who's that?"

They both paused in their tracks and looked down the dark hallway at a swift movement. The dim light cast eerie shadows, making it difficult to see who it was. Alison exchanged a nervous glance with Zelda.

"You wanna have some fun tonight?" Zelda asked with a mischievous smile.

Alison shook her head. "Let's just head back."

Zelda didn't listen. She pulled her along and they quietly followed the person.. It was night time, and an eerie glow cast over the school hallways; why was this person being mysterious? It didn't really concern Alison, but seeing Zelda's face piqued with excitement and curiosity, it made her anxious, so they both couldn't resist the urge to investigate.

Dressed in dark clothing to blend into the shadows, the person tiptoed through the deserted hallways, their footsteps barely making any sound. Lights always went out thirty minutes before curfew and this part of the hall was almost completely dark at the moment, the only source of illumination coming from the moonlight pouring in through the large windows. Alison and Zelda followed the faint sound of footsteps echoing in the distance. Hearts pounding with excitement, they exchanged glances, urging each other to continue.

As they turned around a corner, they paused abruptly and stared. Right there, exposed by the dim moonlight streaming through a nearby window, stood the mysterious figure they'd been following. The figure was cloaked in darkness, their features obscured, heightening their curiosity.

With shaky breathings, Alison and Zelda watched as the mysterious person slowly turned around, revealing a familiar face.

Wendy.
