-3rd pov-
Jake knocked on the door and waited for a response
Niki was lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. His head was going through so many damn thoughts
He heard the knock but he didn't feel like talking to anyone at this moment
He let out a long sigh before responding "Yeah, come in"
Jake opened the door to see Niki lying on his bed "I brought you dinner" he said as he closed the door behind him
Niki sat up as he saw Jake and motioned him over "Thanks"
He watches Jake walk over with the plate of food, he looks at it for a moment, even though he's hungry he's not quite in the mood to eat
Jake put the plate on the bedside table before taking a seat on the edge of the bed
"Why do you want to go out so bad?" he questioned
Niki sighs and leans his head back on the headboard
"Because ever since the stupid attack 5 months ago, you all have me stuck in here. I can't even go outside like I used to"
He looked out the window, the sun was setting down "I'm going insane here stuck in this house"
Jake understands how Niki feels, he feels like he is going insane as well
"Yeah...but that 'stupid attack' caused the humans to hate supernaturals" Jake added as he looked at Niki
Niki lets out another frustrated sigh at the thought of the attack
"Oh, I'm aware." He runs a hand through his hair
"I still can't believe everything happened so abruptly. From living in harmony to hate, it happened so fast"
"You can blame those stupid werewolves for that" Jake mumbles in annoyance
Niki lets out a huff in agreement
"Exactly. Those damn werewolves caused all of this"
He clenched his fists, remembering how the werewolves suddenly attacked them out of nowhere, causing so much chaos
"They should learn how to control themselves when the full moon hits" Jake crossed his arms over his chest
Niki nods "They're all a bunch of idiots. We all get a surge of bloodlust but we manage not to act on it. Why can't they control themselves?"
Jake shrugs, he was thinking about that too, how come everyone else can try to control themselves when they get a surge of bloodlust but those dumb werewolves
Niki and Jake fell silent for a few minutes as both were trapped in their thoughts, thinking about that night
Niki broke the silence between them, he had a question he wanted to ask
"Are the guys serious about letting me go out soon?"
"Yeah they are" He answered and gave Niki a small glance before looking back at the door
Niki let out a huff and leaned his head back on the headboard, he didn't want to get his hopes up "Finally"
He looked at Jake, he could tell something was on his mind "Why do you seem like you're hiding something?"
"I'm not hiding anything...I'm just thinking" Jake replied in a quiet tone
Niki raised an eyebrow, usually, he was good at reading his brothers, but this was no different, he knew Jake was hiding something.
"Then what the hell are you thinking about?"
Jake let out a sigh and looked at Niki "The red moon is coming up"
Niki looked at Jake, his eyes slightly widened at hearing that. The red moon, every supernatural being's favorite night, they all called it an unofficial holiday
"Why are you thinking about that?" He asked, though he knows why
"It's just that you don't have a wifey to celebrate with" Jake gave Niki a sad look
Niki huffs and looks down at the sheets, it was the thought that he had in the back of his mind every red moon. The rest of his brothers were already engaged or married but yet he was still single
"Why did you have to remind me about that?" He said in annoyance "I just wanted to see if you remember" Jake bluntly says
Niki rolled his eyes in annoyance but sighed
"Of course, I remember. Every red moon, all of you guys are with your wives, celebrating"
"I'm the only one all alone. It sucks" He grumbled
"I can tell, you look depressed at every single red moon" He added before putting a hand on Niki's shoulder
"And I can't see my little brother look all sad and lonely at the next one...so I'm letting you sneak out and enjoy the world as you find yourself a girl"
Niki looked at Jake, quite shocked at what he said
"You're...letting me sneak out?" He asked, just to be sure he heard right
He never really expected one of his brothers to let him sneak out. They all were too protective of him
"Yes I am but you have to come home before midnight," Jake said in a strict tone
Niki nods "I got it, before midnight"
He felt excitement wash him all over. He couldn't believe he was finally going to go out, he looked so excited, like a child on Christmas morning
"Look and smell nice before going out" Jake stood up and gave Niki a small smile "I'll deal with the others," he said before leaving the room
Niki nods, he still doesn't believe this is happening. He watches Jake leave the room before letting out a relieved huff
"I finally get to go out"
He starts imagining all the fun he's gonna have while being out there
Niki got out of bed and started to get ready, making sure that he looked nice and smelled good
He couldn't wait to leave the house and enjoy the night, he was wearing baggy jeans with a cream-colored hoodie with some Timberland boots
Niki looks himself in the mirror once he finished getting ready
"Perfect"
He mumbled as he grabbed his phone and his wallet, hiding both in his pocket before looking at the window. Niki was so eager to get out of there that he debated if he should just jump through the window instead
he knew if he left the house using the front door, he would get caught so jumping out the window was the only option
Niki shrugged before opening his window and climbing out, he took a deep breath when he landed on the soft grass
He looked all around, he couldn't believe how free he felt, he couldn't remember the last time he was out of the house
He took in a deep breath, smelling the fresh air, it had been so long since he was actually out of the house
He let out a sigh of relief, he felt so free. The air was crisp, the moon was bright and he was finally out and about. Niki was finally enjoying life as the young man he is
He shoved his hands in his pockets and started walking down the road without a care in the world
