Kay and Alex went their separate ways, Kay entered her English class, and her eyes widened when she saw someone familiar

-3rd pov-

"Lia?" She called out while walking towards the girl who was looking at her phone, "Hmm?" Lia looked up and saw Kay, a smile formed on her lips

"Kay! I didn't know you had this class" she said and patted the seat next to her, Kay smiled and sat down next to her

"Me neither, I didn't think we would see each other again this fast" Kay replied, still smiling, she was happy to see someone familiar in the same class

Kay was usually alone in her classes which was boring and kind of lonely

Lia let out a soft laugh at Kay's statement, turning slightly to face her

"Seems like the universe wanted us to see each other again, huh?" She said jokingly, a small smile still lingering on her lips

A comfortable silence fell between them before Lia spoke up again

"You don't mind me asking you a question, right?"

Kay looked at the older girl, a smile still on her face "No I don't mind at all"

Lia smiled, relieved that Kay was okay with her asking

"This might seem like a weird question, but...."

She paused, slightly hesitant "What's your relationship with Alex?"

"Me and Alex are best friends, we've known each other since senior year of high school," Kay says with a smile, happy about talking about her best friend

Lia nodded, listening patiently to Kay's response

"You two seem really close." She said with a small smile, though there was a hint of wariness in her eyes

"Mhm" Kay hummed and nodded

Lia on the other hand didn't trust Alex, the energy that Alex was giving off was nonhuman but she wasn't going to say anything to Kay

Lia continued to observe Kay, silently studying her mannerisms and behaviors

There was something about her that seemed....innocent and pure, like a small child

Lia couldn't help but let out a silent scoff, thinking that it was ironic that someone like Kay being Niki's mate

Lia shook her thoughts away, focusing her attention back on their conversation

"Can I ask you something else?"

Kay happily nodded "Yeah of course" She was just happy that Lia wanted to continue with their conversation

Lia smiled at her enthusiasm and continued "I know this might sound weird, but...."

She paused for a moment, searching for the right words

"Do you believe in the supernatural?"

"Supernaturals?" Kay mumbled before nodding "Mhm I do...well my whole family is spiritual so I believe in supernaturals"

Lia was slightly surprised at Kay's response, she wasn't expecting her to answer so quickly

"Really? Your whole family believes in supernaturals?" She asked curiously, slightly leaning forward in her seat

"Mhm..the whole family," Kay said before asking a question herself "Why do you ask?"

Lia shrugged slightly, a small smile on her lips

"Oh, no reason."

She replied lightly, though there was a hint of curiosity in her eyes

"It's just that a lot of people don't really believe in things like that...but it's good to know that you and your family are one of the people who do."

"That's true," Kay said softly as she leaned forward and rested her head against her hand, her Buddha necklace hanging and slightly swaying from her movements

Lia couldn't help but be distracted by the necklace, her eyes flicking over to it, studying it for a moment before looking back at Kay

"That's a pretty necklace you have." She commented, gesturing to the necklace around Kay's neck

"Thank you" Kay smiled at the compliment

Lia returned the smile, then leaned slightly closer to get a better look

"How long have you had it for?" She asked curiously, admiring the intricate details of the necklace

"Umm since I was born" Kay answered as she gently held the pendant in her hand

Lia's eyes widened in surprise at her answer

"Since you were born?" She repeated, slightly impressed "It's been passed down in your family or something?"

Kay hummed and nodded "My uncle blessed it before giving it to me"

Lia tilted her head to the side, her curiosity growing

"Blessed it? Does that mean it's got some kind of protection power or something?"

"Yeah, that's what my mom told me" Kay answered and let go of the pendant, letting it dangle in the air

Lia observed the pendant, its charm sparkling under the school's fluorescent lighting

"Interesting..."

She murmured quietly, her thoughts beginning to wander

Lia silently chuckled to herself, the thought of an innocent girl being in Niki's life was amusing

'Poor girl, she has no idea what she's gotten herself into'

"Umm, Lia?" Kay gently called out for the older girl. Lia nodded slightly, letting her gaze flick around the classroom

"Right, class is starting.."

She muttered to herself, her mind still preoccupied with the thought of Kay and Niki
