-3rd pov-
"Your boyfriend actually did that?" Kay asked while giggling, Lia nodded and smiled "Yep, Jake is such an idiot sometimes but I love him"
"You two are so cute, he better propose to you" Kay added as she gently nudged Lia
The two seem to click, talking to each other like they have known each other for years
Lia laughed in response, linking arms with Kay as they continued on their way to the cafe
"Oh trust me, even if he doesn't propose, I'll make him."
She jokes, though there's an underlying seriousness to her tone
"You just wait, one day you'll have a cute boy chasing after you too." She teased
Kay playfully rolled her eyes "Yeah in my dreams"
Lia chuckled at Kay's response, shaking her head in amusement
"Oh, believe me, it'll happen eventually."
She reassured, before gently squeezing the girl's arm
"And besides, you're too nice to not have someone falling over their own feet for you."
"You think so?" Kay asked, Lia nodded, she knew that Niki would be on his knees the second he saw Kay in person
Lia hummed in agreement, a sly smile tugging on her lips
"Of course, I do. You underestimate how attractive you are, my friend."
'Niki will be begging on his knees the moment he lays his eyes on you.'
Kay smiled at what Lia said, she was very proud of herself, she made a new friend, a very gorgeous one
The girls made it to the cafe and walked in
Lia led the way into the cafe, the aroma of freshly baked goods immediately hitting them as the bell jingled above the door
She scanned the place for a moment before spotting an empty table near the window
"Come on, we can sit over there"
She nodded towards the table, already heading towards it
Kay followed behind "It has been a while since I came here," she said while looking at Lia
Lia slid into one of the chairs in front of the table, smiling at Kay
"Yeah, same here."
She leaned back slightly in her seat, crossing one leg over the other
"But their coffee is too good to resist."
Kay took a seat, setting down her bag beside the chair "And the pastries" She added
Lia chuckled, nodding in agreement
"Oh yes, the pastries. They're practically heavenly."
She agreed, her hand already itching to reach over and grab one of the treats on display
Kay giggles and nods "Especially the ones with chocolate"
Lia smiled, her eyes practically lighting up at the mention of chocolate
"I absolutely agree. Anything with chocolate is automatically 10 times better." She said, her sweet tooth already screaming at her to buy a dozen pastries
-time skip-
The girls order their food and drinks. Conversing, giggling, and just enjoying each other's company
Lia leaned back in her chair, sipping on her coffee as she watched Kay talk. The girl was like a ray of sunshine, her bright personality and infectious laughter were quite endearing
As Kay talked they heard a familiar voice behind them, Kay looked back and saw Alex who had an annoyed look
"Hi Alex," Kay said and smiled at her
Lia's smile dropped instantly as she tensed up
She knew from the aura of the person that it was Alex, she could practically sense the non-human energy coming off of them
Lia's eyes flicked over to Alex, studying her for a moment before looking back at Kay
Alex didn't say anything and walked towards the two with a frown on her face "Alex?" Kay said softly while looking up at the girl
Alex approached the table, standing next to Kay's chair and ignoring Lia completely
"What are you doing here?" Alex asked, her tone cold and annoyed "I'm hanging out with Lia before going to class" Kay answered
Alex's eyes flicked coldly over to Lia, glaring at her for a second before turning back to Kay
"Well, you're finished now."
She stated coldly, her hand moving to rest on the back of Kay's chair, almost possessively
"W-what?" before Kay could say anything else, Alex grabbed her by the arm, dragging her out of the chair
"W-wait..., Alex" she stuttered but Alex didn't listen and continued to drag Kay out, Kay looked at Lia with an apologetic expression
Lia was surprised by the sudden action, watching as Alex practically pulled Kay from her chair
Lia wanted to protest and stop Alex's aggressive behavior, but she knew it wouldn't work
As their eyes met, Kay's apologetic expression made Lia's heart tighten in her chest, she felt guilty for not doing anything
Once Kay and Alex were out of the cafe, Lia just sat there in silence, she looked over to where Kay was sitting and saw that she left her bag
Lia looked down at the abandoned bag, frowning slightly
'Alex didn't even give her a chance to grab her things..'
She let out a sigh as she stood up from her seat, picking up the bag and slinging it over her shoulder
She pulled out her phone from her pocket, calling her boyfriend Jake to tell him about her suspicions of Alex
Jake picked up the call after a few rings
"Hey babe, what's up?" His tone was casual and carefree
"Is Niki with you?"
She asked, she didn't want to say this while Niki was there, since Niki would go crazy if he found out
Jake was silent for a moment, sensing the slightly serious tone in her voice
"Yeah, he's right here. Something wrong?"
Lia let out a sigh, what did she expect, of course, those two brothers would be together, they are literally two peas in a pod
"Damn it..." She mumbled she took in a deep breath, relaxing herself before speaking
"There's a girl who's best friends with Kay...but she doesn't feel human..."
