Chapter 15

Southern Comfort Bar
[Ray is lying on his back on a pool table.]
Klaus: Okay, it's a three step process, Ray. This is step one. I want you to drink from my wrist.
Ray: I already told you where to find the pack. What more do you want from me?
"Poor guy" said Davina.
Klaus: Have you been listening to a word I've been saying, Ray? I have great plans for you. [He cuts his wrist and makes him drink his blood.]
Klaus: You'll thank me for it later, huh. There we go, attaboy! [Stefan arrives.]
Ray: What are you going to do now?
Klaus: It's time for step two, Ray. [He twists his neck, killing him and looks at Stefan. Stefan looks on unemotionally.]
Klaus: You're back.
Stefan: Did you doubt me?
Klaus: Not for a second. I knew you'd pass the test. You still care for your brother, for your old life.
Stefan: Nah, I don't care about anything anymore.
Bellatrix: You put on a good show Stefan. I almost believe you. Let's hope, for your brother's sake, he does.
Klaus: You never stop caring about family, do you? But, every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go.
Mikaelsons look at Klaus.
Smoky Mountains
[Klaus, Bellatrix and Stefan are walking in the mountains. Stefan is carrying Ray, unconscious, on his shoulders.]
Klaus: You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?Stefan: I'm fine.
Klaus: You sure about that? You know, we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down...
Stefan: You know, I get that we're, uh...we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great.
Bellatrix: You two are acting like old married couple. [Klaus and Stefan ignore her.]
Off screen Hayley, Layla, Marcel, Kol and Davina snicker.
Klaus: So much brooding. Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend.
Stefan: Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer.
Klaus: Thanks to our pal Ray, we found ourselves a pack. There. [They stop. They found the pack's camp. Stefan enters their camp. Everyone looks at him. He puts Ray on the ground. A woman rushes over to him.]
Woman: Ray! Oh, my God. What's going on? Who are you? [Klaus and Bella join Stefan.]
Klaus: The important question is who am I. Please forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus.
Woman: You're the hybrid. [Klaus smiles.]
Klaus: You've heard of me. Fantastic.
[Klaus, Bellatrix and Stefan are sitting. Everyone is standing still, looking at Klaus and listening.]
Klaus: It's fascinating, actually...A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid. [Ray wakes up.]
Bellatrix: Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic.
Ray: What's happening to me?
Klaus: Stefan? [Stefan gets up.]
Stefan: Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die.
Klaus: Doesn't take much, just a sip. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend, along for the ride? [He looks at a man.]
Klaus: You! [He rushes over to him and bites his forearm. Stefan grabs him, throws him on the ground in front of Ray. The woman protests but Klaus strangles her.]
Stefan: If you don't drink it, Ray, I will. Problem is I don't know how to stop. [Klaus looks at the girl.]
Klaus: It's the new order, sweetheart. You join us, or you die.
Woman: I'd rather die than be a vampire.
"That's how you become Vampire." Said Layla.
Klaus: Wrong choice. [He gives her his blood. Ray drinks the blood from the man.]
Klaus: She'll thank me for that later. Heh. [He twists her head and kills her.]
Hayley and Davina glare at him.
Klaus: Okay, who's next? [His eyes are yellow and his fangs are out.]
[Over in the camp, Klaus gives his blood to the human and compels him.]
Klaus: There. Good as new. Now you relax, okay, mate? We're gonna need you when the rest of them wake up. [Ray is sitting on a rock nearby, grabbing his body and shivering.]
Ray: They're dead. They're all dead.
Bellatrix: He's through his transition. He should be feeling better soon.
Stefan: So is this your master plan? Build an army of hybrid slaves?
Klaus: No, not slaves. Soldiers, comrades.
Stefan: For what war, might I ask?
Bellatrix&Klaus: You don't arm yourself after war has been declared. You build your army so big that no one ever dares pick a fight.
People look at the duo creeped out.
Stefan: What makes you so sure that they'll be loyal?
Klaus: Well, it's not difficult to be loyal when you're on the winning team. That's something you'll learn once you shake that horribly depressive chip off your shoulder. [Stefan laughs.]
Stefan: That's why you're, uh...you're keeping me around? To witness my attitude adjustment? [Klaus looks at Ray, sits next to him, and examines his face. Ray's eyes are bleeding.]
Klaus: You'll know why I'm keeping you around when I've decided that I want you to know.
Klaus: Something's wrong.
Stefan: That shouldn't be happening, should it?
Bellatrix: Well, obviously. [Ray is shaking and his eyes are still bleeding.]
Ray: You said it was gonna feel better. Why doesn't it feel better?
Stefan: Some master race.
Klaus: Lose the attitude. [The woman wakes up.]
Klaus: Derek, come feed your girlfriend. [He gets up. Ray snarls and makes a few jumps and leaves. Klaus looks at Stefan.]
Klaus: Go get him. [Stefan jumps on Ray and pushes him on the ground. Ray bites him and leaves. Stefan is about to go after him but he hears Damon and Elena's voice.]
Damon: How you doing?
Elena: Fine.
Damon: You know, I could help you.
Elena: No, thanks.
Damon: Just one little fwoosh.
Elena: Yeah, with my luck, you'd drop me.
Alaric: What are you guys, twelve? [Stefan sees them walking from a distance. Klaus and Bella arrive behind him and Stefan starts walking in their direction so Klaus and Bella won't see them.]
Klaus: Where did he go?
Stefan: He, uh...he got away. Forget him. Let's go. [Bellatrix sees his arm and grabs it.]
Bellatrix: A fatal werewolf bite. Ouch.
Stefan: (to Klaus) Yeah. I'm gonna need your blood to heal me.
Klaus: Well, I tell you what. You find Ray, and then I'll heal you.
Stefan: Can't be serious.
Bellatrix: You better hurry, 'cause that bite looks nasty. [Klaus and Bella go back to the campsite and see the others are waking up. All of their eyes are bleeding.]
[It's nighttime at the camp and a campfire is burning. Klaus and Bella are with Derek.]
Klaus: Bad news, my friend. End of the road for you. [Derek offers no resistance as Klaus kills him by drinking his blood. The woman is in front of him.]
Klaus: Careful, love. There's only one Alpha here. [All the werewolves are staggering around the camp, their eyes bleeding. They look like zombies.]
Klaus: Bloody hell.
Bellatrix: What the hell is happening?
[Damon, Elena and Alaric are running. Elena trips. Alaric and Damon stop and look back at her but freeze where they are.]
Damon: Don't move. [Elena raises her head. She's face to face with a werewolf.]
Damon: Here, doggie, doggie. [He runs. The werewolf runs after him.]
Some laugh. Hayley and Klaus glare at everyone offended.
Alaric: Come on. Let's keep moving.
Elena: We can't leave Damon.
Alaric: He can handle himself. Let's move.
Elena: No. If he gets bit, he'll be dead. I'm the reason he's out here.
Alaric: I am the reason he's out here. I told him where we were, and I'm telling you to keep moving. Let's go. Elena, now!
