Chapter 21

Mystic Falls High School
[Caroline wakes up on the floor. Bella has her phone.]
Bella: We didn't have mobile telephones in my day. Would have made life a whole lot easier, I suppose. [She takes a picture of herself.]
"You sound like old man." Said Hayley.
Caroline: Where's Tyler?
Bella: He's dead. Ish. [Caroline sees him lying behind her.]
Caroline: What did you do to him?
Bella: Think of it as he's having a nap. When he wakes up, he'll be a hybrid.
[Caroline puts her ear to Tyler's chest to check for a heartbeat. Bella is swiping through pictures on the phone and sees a picture of Stefan and Elena.]
Bella: Ugh. Vomit. [Suddenly she zooms in and sees the necklace around Elena's neck.]
Bella: Is that my neck... [She gets up and speaks down at Caroline.] Why is that doppelbitch wearing my necklace?!
[In the gym Stefan is feeding on Chad.]
Klaus: It's always nice to see a vampire in his true element. The species has become such a broody lot.
Elena: No. You did this to him.
Klaus: I invited him to the party, love. He's the one dancing on the table. [Bella marches in and rushes toward Elena.]
Bella: Where is it?! Where's my necklace?
Klaus: What are you talking about?
Bella: She has my necklace. Look. [She gives him the phone so he can see the picture.]
Klaus: Well, well. More lies.
Bella: Where... is it?
Elena: I don't have it anymore. [Bella glares]
Bella: You're lying! [Klaus looks at Elena.]
Klaus: Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest.
Elena: I'm telling the truth. Katherine stole it.
Klaus: Katerina. Of course. Well, that's unfortunate. If we had the necklace it would make things a whole lot easier for your witch. Since we're doing this the hard way, let's put a clock on it, shall we? [He puts on the clock. There's a buzzer sound when the clock appears on the board. He goes over to Stefan and compels him.]
Klaus: Twenty minutes. If Bonnie hasn't found a solution by then, I want you to feed again. Only this time, I want you to feed on Elena. You know you want to.
Elena: No, Klaus! Don't do this to him!
Klaus: No one leaves. If she tries to run, fracture her spine. [Bella looks at them and leaves with Klaus.]
"With Matt's request Matt died to talk to dead and Bonnie brought him back and Esther told Bonnie to kill doppelganger." Said Emma.
Mystic Falls High School
[In the gym, there's only sixteen seconds left on the clock.]
Stefan: Elena, you're going to have run.
Elena: But Klaus said that if I run...
Stefan: I know what he said, but if you stay, it won't matter. Elena, please, please, please. Elena, there's no other way.
"She could just walk away. You told her to not run, you haven't said anything about walking." Said Layla. Klaus's eyes widened.
Elena: There is another way, Stefan. It's for you to fight. [A buzzer sounds, signifying that the time has run out.]
Elena: Stefan...I love you. Fight, Stefan. Don't give up.
Stefan: I can't hold it. [He vamps out and rushes at Elena and she screams, but he rushes past her to the opposite wall.]
Stefan: Elena, run! Go! [She runs through the school, going from one hallway to the next. Stefan holds on to everything he can so he doesn't have to hurt Elena but he starts rushing out of the gym and crashing from side to side through the hallways. Elena goes through a door, closes it and looks through the small window in it. She then turns around and starts moving but bumps into Klaus.]
Klaus: We've got to stop meeting like this. [Stefan enters the cafeteria, sees a broom, takes it and breaks it on his knee. He drops the brush end and holds the remaining makeshift stake in front of him, and stabs himself in the stomach with it. Klaus enters with Elena, and Stefan looks at them.]
Klaus: Now this is fascinating. I've never seen this before. The only thing stronger than your craving for blood is your love for this one girl. Why don't you turn it off? [Klaus lets go of Elena.]
Stefan: No! [Klaus sits on a nearby table.]
Klaus: Come on. Your humanity is killing you. All the guilt must be exhausting. Turn it off.
Stefan: No!
Elena: Stefan...
Klaus: You're strong. [He pulls the stake out of Stefan's body.]
Klaus: But you're not that strong. Turn. It. Off.
Stefan: No! [He pushes Klaus away. But Klaus pushes him against the wall, compels him and yells.]
Klaus: Turn it off! [Stefan's face and look change.]
Elena: What did you do?
Klaus: I fixed him. But I think a test is in order, don't you? [He walks behind Elena and looks at Stefan.]
Klaus: Ripper... Perhaps you'd like a drink.. from the doppelgänger's neck? [Stefan's face changes and he rushes over to Elena and bites her neck. She screams. Klaus enters the classroom Bella, Tyler and Caroline are in.]
Klaus: Well, the verdict's in. The original witch says the doppelgänger should be dead.
Bella: Does that mean we can kill her?
Klaus: No, I'm fairly certain it means the opposite.
Bella: What?! [She puts her arms around Caroline from behind and pulls her back, restraining her.]
Klaus: Call it a hunch... [He shows a test tube containing blood to Tyler. Bella holds Caroline so she can't move.]
Klaus: Elena's blood. Drink it.
Caroline: No! No, no, no, Tyler, don't!
Bella: If he doesn't feed, he'll die anyway. Consider this an experiment. [Tyler struggles but he finally drinks it.]
Klaus: There we go. Good boy. [Tyler coughs, rolls over the desk, and falls to the floor, screaming and groaning and writhing. He holds his head and screams and his face finally changes. His eyes are yellow, he has fangs and veins under his eyes.]
Klaus: Well, that's a good sign.
Mystic Falls Hospital
[It's still nighttime. Elena wakes up in a bed in the hospital. A nurse is with her.]
Elena: Where am I?
Nurse: In the hospital, sweetie. You suffered through a terrible ordeal.
Elena: I have to get out of here. [She attempts to sit up but the nurse gently stops her.]
Nurse: Ah. Not an option. You've lost a lot of blood. [The nurse gestures to a blood bag on the bed next to Elena, and Elena looks at it.]
Elena: Wait...You're taking my blood?
Nurse: Of course. It's very important for your friend Klaus. [Elena starts struggling with the nurse but the nurse injects her with sedatives.]
Nurse: Don't fight it, sweetie. He told me you need plenty of rest. [Elena falls back on her pillow, asleep.]
[Klaus and Bellatrix in front of the hospital.]
Bella: So the doppelgänger isn't the problem. Her blood is the solution.
Klaus: Seems so.
Bella: How did you know?
Klaus: Well, you know how much the original witch hated me. Do you honestly think I would do anything other than the opposite of what she says?
Bella: A thousand years in the grave and she's still screwing with you.
"That's mother for you." Said Kol.
Klaus: Well, it makes sense if you think about it from her perspective. It was her fail-safe in case I ever broke the hybrid curse. The doppelgänger had to die in order for me to become a hybrid, but if she was dead...
Bella: Then you couldn't use her blood to sire yourself a new species.
Klaus: Leaving me alone for all time.
Bella: You aren't alone, Nik. I'm here. When are you gonna see it?
"They are my favourite duo." Said Layla. Kol is jaelous, but hides it.
Klaus: Why don't you go get the trunk?
Bella: I will, but Nik, Damon called Mikael.
Klaus: What?
Bella: Kathrine called me and told me that Damon woke Mikael up.
Klaus: What do you mean woke up and why is Kathrine calling you?
Bella: Because she is Layla's best friend and because of that I helped her out few times over the centuries. Anyway, turns out Mikael was desiccated by Bennets, when he tried to kill Elena. Seems like he found Elena when she was child.
Klaus: How Salvatores found him?
Bella: Jeremy Gilbert can see ghosts and he found out. [Damon arrives. Bella leaves.]
Klaus: Well, look who finally decided to show up to the party.
Damon: Where is she?
Klaus: Elena? Ah, she's making a donation to a greater cause. [Damon goes toward the hospital but Klaus stops him.]
Klaus: I'm afraid I can't let you interfere, mate.
Damon: You'll have to kill me.
Klaus: Oh, I would love to kill you, but I made a pledge to your brother, and unlike him, I keep my word. Although, you know what, thinking about it now, he probably doesn't care that much anymore. [He pushes Damon against the hood of a car and is about to kill him.]
Damon: Don't you want to know about your friend Mikael?
Klaus: What do you know about Mikael?
Damon: Just that he knows you're here.
[Klaus throws him against another car, and Damon falls on the ground. When Damon gets up, Klaus has disappeared. Damon goes toward the hospital.]
