Cody sighed. It was already the weekend, he'd spend his time listening to his father yell and shout as he brings home another slut.

Ever since Cody's mother had died, he was seen as bad luck to his father. He was often told he caused his mother's death. Cody never knew though, he'd never met his mother, nor would he get the chance to.

Cody sighed, mumbling to himself softly.

" Cody! Get your ass in here, boy!" Yelled out Cody's father, again. He obliged though, heading to his father.

" This here is, Maddie. She'll be your new mother. Treat her with respect." Spat out Cody's father.

" Of course. " He'd only mutter. Bowing his head.

" He stinks. " Maddie groaned, " And he looks sickly. I do not want to be seen around anywhere near this thing. " Maddie spat out.

" Cody, go eat something, you fucking twig. " Father yelled out.

" Yes, father. " Cody mumbled, silently heading to the kitchen.

He slowly made his way to the kitchen, preparing himself a meal.  He felt ... disgusted with himself.  He felt, revolting.

He was rather skinny, and he had a tendency to not eat for days on end.

Maddie was right; He did stink as well.  Cody had been avoiding showering for a bit... He felt too tired to do so.

He sighed, trying to think of what to eat.  There wasn't anything to eat.

" I'm headed to the store. " He'd mumble out, slipping outside quietly.

Cody immediately began running off to the store, desperately trying to keep away from his house. As he was sitting inside at one of the tables, he saw the boy that was looking at him yesterday. Maybe .. It could be someone completely different.

Cody sighed. Mumbling to himself.

" Pardon? Is this seat taken? "

Cody looked up at who was speaking, his mouth hanging agape.

" Oh , Uh. No. You can sit there. " He'd mumble.

" I'm Noah by the way. I saw you run in here. Is everything alright? "

"Cody.. and I'm fine. I just needed some time away from home. "

" . . . That shit head of a dad again . . " Noah mumbled to himself.

" What? "

" Nothing. "

" Hm . . Okay. "

" Do you want this ? " Noah offered a chocolate chip cookie to Cody.

Cody's eyes lit up, he immediately nodded.

Chocolate isn't the best kind of candy, but he can still tolerate it. Something sweet is anything sweet. He didnt care.

Noah handed the cookie to Cody, a small smile on his face.

" Thank you. . . " Cody responded, immediately taking a bite of the cookie.

" Of course. I don't even like cookies. " Noah mumbled.

" Then why'd you buy it? "

" I planned on giving it to someone. "

" Oh, kay." Cody continued to eat the cookie, and soon it was gone in seconds.

" Hungry much? " Noah joked.

" Maybe. " Cody grinned.

Noah looked at his phone, then at Cody.
" I should get going. Ma is going to wonder where I've run off to again. "

Cody frowned.
" Oh, alright. "

Noah grinned somewhat, sliding a piece of paper to Cody.

" Huh.. "

Cody looked at the paper , it was Noah's number.  He smiled somewhat; ' A new friend... Maybe.. '

Cody was back at home, he was cleaning up a mess Maddie left on the floor. He was tired.

As Cody was cleaning, the home phone went off.

Cody, being the only one home at the moment, answered the phone.

" Hello ? " He felt a cold chill run down his spine.

It was soft breathing on the other side. And then the other person hung up.

" Huh . . ? Weirdo... " Cody muttered to himself, getting back to cleaning.

As Cody was cleaning, his father came home.

" Cody, Maddie said you broke something important of hers. " He walked over to Cody, watching as he cleaned the mess.

" What? I never did that... "

" Now, why would Maddie lie to me, son?! " Cody's father raised his voice, making the smaller, weaker boy shiver.

" I- I swear I didn't, dad! I- I was cleaning the mess she—"

Then there was a loud smack.

Cody stood there, frozen. His dad never really got violent like this.

" Don't raise your voice at me boy! Maddie is no liar, now get to your room this moment, young man!" His father yelled out.

Cody immediately ran, tears falling down his face.

" Why am I never enough in his eyes. "

Cody mumbled to himself, eventually, he stopped crying, closing his eyes. He couldn't sleep though, he was too afraid of what his dad could do. His father never resorted to violence, well, almost never. He'd only resort to violence anytime Cody would stand up for himself.

As Cody sat there, thinking, the sun began setting. It was already around 8:26 pm. He laid his head down, still thinking of what to do. He had thought about running away, but there was no way he could. His dad made him share his location with him 24/7.

Cody just sighed, he'll find something out tomorrow.

And with that, he fell asleep.
