"So... no help from her?" Hange asked, somewhat disappointed, probably more because she wanted to meet Rei than receive help from her.
"I'm afraid not," Erwin said sternly. He had been frowning since they left the room in the underground.
Levi wondered what could've gone down between Rei and Erwin that made her so hostile towards him and the Scouts. He also wondered, or rather, obsessed about, how she knew Kenny. And how she knew Kenny knew him. He couldn't stop thinking about it. About her. And how much her arrogant smirk annoyed him.
"It's for the better," he muttered loud enough for Erwin, Hange, and Miche to hear him. "She'd be a pain in the ass."
Erwin blinked twice, confused that Levi had expressed his opinion since he usually didn't care.
"Maybe," he replied slowly. "But we'd have another titan-killing machine among us."
Levi scoffed.
"Don't you think you might overestimate her? When was the last time you saw her?"

"What happened between you two?"
Miche asked the question everyone in the room was thinking about. Erwin only closed his eyes briefly before standing up straight, his face void of all emotions resurfacing mere seconds ago.
"It is of no importance," he said with a tone that didn't allow further questions. "She refused. The only thing I—we can do now is hope she changes her mind."
"And how likely is that?" Miche asked.
Erwin's eyebrows furrowed as he grabbed his coat and walked towards the door.
"Not very likely."
A red-haired woman was panting in the middle of a hallway. Her eyes were unmoving from the figure facing her. He stood there, eyes wide at the sight of her bloody, bruised body. His blonde hair was messy as if he'd been pulling at it.
"You... you're hurt," he uttered.
The woman's eyes first widened in disbelief, then narrowed with rage. Her grip tightened around the bag she carried, the other slowly taking a dagger from its sheath.
"I never... I never wanted you to get hurt," the man whispered, slowly backing away as she approached him with murder in her eyes. "I'm sorr—"
