"Welcome home, Bunny, Aro, Royal, and Champion!" Jay yelled from the kitchen.
Accepting that 'Bunny' was my new nickname and basking of the feeling of familiarity tied to it due to Max calling me that from time to time, I gave them a small bow. Chester and Andy who were playing chess waved. I went to the kitchen and fixed myself a sandwich when I noticed that Aro slipped back into the basement.
Scarfing down the food, fueling my body with a mixture of bread, ham, and cheese, I went to the two younger boys to see that Chester was winning.
"I'm letting him win," Andy told me. Chester rolled his eyes. They were both in their pajamas and when I asked them if they had showered, they nodded. "Nana kept watch and made sure we didn't blow anything up. Don't worry. I didn't run and Chester didn't sing in the shower."
"Do you both usually break things? While showering?" I asked, going to ruffle Chester's hair.
"Sometimes," Jay said from behind me. "Bunny, tell them to get to bed. I can't stay up for much longer."
"Is Beebo ready?" Andy asked and I wondered what they would need that scary robot for.
Glumly going up the stairs with their hands hanging low when Jay instructed them to, they entered their bedrooms and called it a night. Royal seemed to have already showered and had taken the liberty to tuck himself into bed, sniffling.
Checking the doors, I saw Jay bring up the robot, its chonky head swiveling around to stare at me before its eyes turned into a smile. Sighing with relief that Aro must have put my face into the system, I grinned back.
Placing Beebo on the floor, Jay bounced over to his room. I had no idea why people were scared of them – the Superhumans acted human. They were warm, kind, and maybe sometimes a little bit eager to do the craziest things, but that's okay.
Reaching over to close Royal's bedroom door, a beep sounded from the floor and Beebo wheeled itself into the room. Beebo ignored me and stationed himself by the bed.
I crept up to observe what was going on. Beebo and Royal were having a conversation with Royal's hand in Beebo's... claws? Hands?
"No one understands, Beebo! I was naked!" Royal complained. I giggled at the memory when Beebo began to speak.
"Beebo understands. Royal did a good job. Royal is the reason why it succeeded."
"Thank you, Beebo," Royal whispered, releasing Beebo's hand and turning away. "I'll sleep now."
"Okay, Royal. Smother-mode?"
Royal yawned sleepily. Despite slumber taking over his body, he opened his arms and Beebo slipped into his arms for a good three seconds, rubbing its head against Royal's face. "Goodnight, Royal."
"Goodnight, Beebo."
"My turn!" Jay's voice echoed.
Just in time, Beebo stretched out a claw and grabbed the doorknob of Royal's room to close it. In Jay's room, Jay was sitting up and wiggling his eyes at the robot. He greeted me when I came to see what Beebo would do with him.
