It was calm after that for days to come. The manor was filled with fun and laughter. Champion promised Chester and Andy a proper obstacle course under one condition – they would put it together on their own (or with my help).
On my free time, I was given cooking lessons by Jay who had a talent in the kitchen. Most days it did not feel like work, just hanging out with my friends. Life was staring to look up and even if there were sudden moments of text messages that would pop up from unknown numbers at night, I found it easier to ignore them.
This night, I grabbed a plate of spaghetti to head to the basement. Chester and Andy were back on their competitive streak with chess. Aro hadn't been out of the basement for a while and Jay once admitted that he was glad that I took initiative to go seek Aro when he would isolate for too long.
My pact with Aro was simple. I'd give him some food and he'd eat. Our training sessions was just me hanging out with him for company. When he would have surgery night, I'd stand there with my pinky for Beebo to hold.
Much to my luck, Beebo promised that he'd never break my finger because it was "bad".
Arriving to the basement, Beebo was wheeling across the room and it stopped and looked at me. He scanned my face before wheeling away.
"Where's Aro, Beebo?"
"Bathroom," Beebo replied. I placed the plate on the table before walking to the robot that sat in front of the TV as if it was on standby.
"No quiz today, Beebo," I told him, sitting down on the couch. "Just here to make sure your master eats."
Beebo's eyes turned sad. "Aw man!"
"Who taught you that?"
"I have new mode. Hippie-nice-guy mode activated." Beebo smiled. "Master says nice guys finish last."
I laughed, Beeo coming to sit by my foot. I knew Aro was trying to put multiple modes on and components into Beebo.
"I bet you've been watching American TV, Beebs," I said, cooing at the robot.
