Today is the day that I've been dreading for weeks.
Today is the proving tests.
The proving tests are when you are given a test and you have to show that everything that your made of is of your sector.
They say that if you get another sector for the test then your transferred to that sector but if you don't then your sent to a place where even hell sounds friendly.
There are four sectors. There is beneficent for kind, authentic for truthful, gallant for brave and ardent for committed.
I'm beneficent.
I'm not the best at being kind, I can be truthful, I'm not very committed but I'm brave but I've never needed to be.
My name is Kate Dawson and I'm 18 years old. My brother is William Dawson and he's 19 years old.
I will go before my brother in the test because I'm younger than him.
It's time to go to the tests and I'm so frightened.
As we enter the waiting room we sit on the third row back from the front.
I don't know why but we aren't aloud to talk to anyone who isn't in your sector, I don't think its reasonable.
When everyone settles down a man says "welcome to the proving tests. Thank you parents for coming as right now your children need you.You will be tested to see if you suit your sector and for everyone let's hope so".
Then a women says " yes that's right we want your children to get what they are meant to get.
My name is Elisabeth Johnson and this man next to me is Roger Park.
Anyone who belongs to beneficent or gallant will be tested by me and all those who belong to authentic or ardent will be tested by Roger Park. So let's begin".
I heard several names whilst I was waiting for my name to be called like 'Lizzie Dreal' and 'Jonah Earl' but all I concentrate on is getting the test right.
I look over to my brother to see that he's panicking.
"William are you okay?" I ask.
He looks at me as if I've just died but says calmly " yes I'm fine I'll probably do something wrong but...".
I interrupt and say "just be yourself and you'll get the results that you want" I smile at him.
He looks a little more cheerful and then he asks me "how are you doing?"."I'm...." But before I could say fine Elisabeth says "Kate Dawson".
A shiver runs down my spine as I stand up.
I look at my family who gives me a smile and I walk down the steps and towards Elisabeth.
As I walk towards the door that Elisabeth beckons me into I feel like I should just turn around and run but I don't and walk into the room.
