Not being chosen

Chapter 4

"Hi there" a girl from behind me says "hey" I say startled.

"my names Bella Miller" "I'm Kate Dawson".

"Where did you come from?" Bella asks.

"Beneficent you" I ask, worrying that she'll get angry that I asked "Ardent" Bella replies.

"We should be friends" she says.

"Yeah we should" I reply shocked that she would want to be friends with me.

"Hey I'm Tom smith and this is my friend Chris Henry"

"hey I'm Bella Miller and this is my friend Kate Dawson".

I'm glad Bella introduced us because I would have been really nervous to.

"So where did you girls come from?" Chris asks

"I came from ardent and Kate came from beneficent what about you guys?" Bella asked almost like she was challenging them.

"I came from authentic and Tom came from gallant.

"What did you guys do wrong in the test?" Chris asks I'm annoyed now that I have to answer something.

"I was showing beneficent and authentic so I was sent here"says Bella.

"I showed authentic and gallant so I was sent here" I say

"really a beneficent showing gallant that's never happened before what did you do to get that?"Tom says interestingly.

All three of them are now looking at me waiting for my answer

"well on the second part of the test I hit the man stealing over the head with a metal tube" they all laugh and then Tom blurts out "me too".

"What did you both get" I ask.

"I got ardent and gallant" Tom says.

"I got beneficent and ardent" Chris says we all start laughing really loudly.

Then a man and four other people ,including Theo, stand in front of all of us and he shouts out "if there's something so funny, please, tell us" all four of us look up unaware that he's talking to us and burst out in fits of laughter at that.

Everyone starts to look angry so I start to straighten up trying to withhold the laughter within but the other three couldn't stop.

Bella managed to say

"we were just laughing about our test results, then we didn't realise that you were talking to us and found it even funnier but nothing more than that" she says and bursts into fits of laughter again and they look even angrier.

I've stopped laughing now completely but they aren't stopping "I'm really sorry about my friends, guys stop" I say talking to both my friends and the funny guy bossing us around.

The head of that group then sends Theo and a man over to sort us out.

I heard Theo calling the man he was with James so I just figure that's it

"hi I'm sorry about them but if you carry on they can step outside for a moment maybe to calm down" I say politely.

James then pushes me to the side and grabs Tom and Chris by the neck pulling them up. Theo comes to my aid straight away and says

"are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine" he pulls me up then walks towards James and tells him to release his grip.

He releases him grip on Toms throat but not Chris' and grabs Bella by the neck I then run to Tom who's struggling to breath "Tom are you okay?" I ask.

Coughing he's able to put his thumbs up as if to say yes.

I then stand up and face Theo who is now just standing and watching.

"Do something" I yell to Theo he sighs and moves to James and says

"let them go or I'll have to hurt you, their friend Kate shes watching this stop".

James then releases Bella and Chris. Chris is barely breathing now but Theo is asking him if he's alright and helping them.

Before I can go and help them James grabs my arm and pulls me towards the door

"get off me" I scream.

After I scream Bella, Chris and Tom are yelling at Theo to help me but he just says

"she's fine look" but as he turns and sees me being dragged away he gets up and runs towards us.

James chucks me out of the room onto the floor and punches me three times hard in the head he then goes to his side pocket and brings out a gun and says

"you are the only one who caused this".

Just as he was about to pull the trigger Theo comes charging through the door and knocks the gun out of at James' hand and punches him in the head and says

"she didn't do anything James,know who's right and wrong" he then pulls me up and walks me away from the room where I was in less than five minutes ago.

He then takes me into a room and says

"I'm sorry about him are you okay?" He says looking at me like he cares.

"Yeah I'm fine I should get back" standing up and as I make my way to the door he says "but your hurt I'll tell you what they would say you need to lie down".

"No I'm fine honestly"

"no your not stay here I'll be back in a second" he then runs out the door closing it behind him I then reach for the handle but he locked the door somehow so I just sit on the bed until he returns.

Three minutes later he comes through the door and says

"Alex ,the man at the front, the leader, says that you have to stay here because your injured but that I must tell you what he would be saying" I look at him curiously then say "fine what would he need to tell me?".

For the next fifteen minutes he told me where I'd be sleeping and that I would learn how to fight and hunt then when he finishes explaining to me he adds

"oh I almost forgot the close is actually another sector just all the people who like you didn't get the test as their sector ,so for you beneficent, are sent here".

He then leads me to the place where I'll be sleeping and I saw Bella, Chris and Tom all sitting together on three beds and there is one spare bed with theirs I smile and I say

"thank you for helping me I'll see you later leader Clarke" then I leave Theo in the doorway and walk toward my friends when I turn back to see whether Theo is still there he's talking to James who has come to guard us.

When I turn to my friends there already in front of me and they all huddle together and give me a group hug

"Hey Kate are you okay did that guy James give you those bruises?" Bella asks looking angry.

"Yeah he did but I'm fine now leader Clarke helped me".

We all look at each other and then laugh a little.

I stop laughing when I hear a cough from above me as I look up and I see James and Theo standing behind me.
