It seems like a nice afternoon as we pan into San Francisco, but... it's not actually 'nice'...
Three blurs zoom across the city, two red and one blue. The blue and red one run up a building as the other red one shoots at them.
A blue Mobian hedgehog runs through the street at super sonic speed, a red Mobian wolf skating beside him at same speed.
A flying drone chases after them as it continues to shoot, hoping to either knock them out, or kill them both.
The hedgehog flips over a car as it explodes behind them, and the camera comes to a stop.
"So, I know what you're thinking." The hedgehog narrates.
"Why is that incredibly handsome hedgehog and beautiful wolf being chased by a madman with a mustache from the civil war?"
The two continue to run through the busy streets, trying to outrun the drone.
"Well to be honest, it feels like we've been running our whole lives."
The drone continues to shoot.
"Is this to much? Am I going too fast? It's kinda what I do, you know what? Let's back up."
We go all the way back to when the hedgehog and wolf were little kids, back to the island where they were from.
"This is the island where we're from."
The hedgehog speeds through the land, going over a bridge, and causing it to collapse.
"It had everything! Sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, public access to loopty loops!"
He continues to run around the loopty loop, and across a giant gap between two roads that went up.
"And I never had to catch a school bus because I could run across the entire island in less than two seconds!"
"Also there was no school. I know, pretty sweet island, am I right?!"
He does amazing tricks in the air before bouncing in between cliffs to his destination.
"I was born with extraordinary powers, and was told to keep them secret. And like any kid, I did the exact opposite."
He arrives back home and stumbles through the doorway, bouncing himself off the stomach of a huge owl who kept watch over him.
"That's Longclaw. She took care of us. She was basically obi-wan kenobi. If obi-wan kenobi had a beak and ate mice..."
"Sneak attack!" The small red wolf jumps on top of the hedgehog and begins to wrestle with him, causing both of them to laugh.
"And that's Crimson. Longclaw had found her not to long after she found me. Never told me where she found her, but that's beside the point."
"Crimson was way too smart for her own good at that time, inventing traps, experimenting with nature, she built her own skates for crying out loud!"
"Sonic." Longclaw's voice interrupted their wrestling match causing them to get off each other. "Someone could've seen you."
"No one saw me. I'm too fast! And, I wanted to bring you this." Sonic pulls out a sunflower with triangular shaped petals, and offers it to the owl.
Longclaw senses a disturbance and looks up seeing a tribe of echidnas with their arrows pointed directly at Sonic.
"Get down!"
She leaps forward and tucks the two under her wings and uses her talon to shut the door just as the arrows get stuck in it.
One launches through the window and pierces the sunflower Sonic gave her.
"Turns out with great power, comes great power hungry bad guys."
Sonic and Crimson look out in fear as Longclaw thinks of a plan.
"And I lead them right to us."
Long claw bursts through the window and begins flying through the forest while carrying Sonic and Crimson.
Arrows launch rapidly, trying to strike them down, when one pierces Longclaw's side, causing her to yelp out and come crashing to the ground.
Luckily, the two children weren't hurt.
She sets them down. "Listen carefully, you two. You both have powers unlike anything I have ever seen. And that means that someone will always want it. The only way to stay safe, is to stay hidden."
She pulls out a ring from her bag and throws it. The ring becomes bigger and spins as another world was shown on the other side.
"This world is on the far side of the universe. You both should be safe there."
Sonic and Crimson stare up at her with sadness.
"We don't want to go without you!"
"Yeah! You can still come with us!"
"You must." Longclaw says and hands the bag to Sonic. "These rings will be your most important possession."
The echidna tribe is heard in the distance, continuing their pursue of the three.
"If you're ever discovered, use one. Never. Stop. Running." She instructs nudging the two to the portal.
"Now go!"
Crimson takes the rings as Sonic picks her up, and runs through the portal.
They glance back seeing Longclaw spread her wings in a defensive stance, as the echidnas approach.
"No!"
"Longclaw!"
Sonic runs back to the portal, hoping to make it back. Longclaw turns to them with a sad smile.
"Goodbye, Sonic. Goodbye, Crimson."
"NO!"
The portal fades away, leaving the two running through it.
Sonic and Crimson look at each other in a fit of breath, scared and traumatized.
