A PSYCHOLOGIST. SHE'S a fucking psychologist!
It stayed in his mind for moments, her words hung heavily in the air. His mind becomes a hurricane of disbelief and dawning realization. Umawang ang kanyang mga labi sa sorpresa, and they struggled to form coherent words.
Wait. . . What?
"Am I hearing things right?"
"You heard me right, detective."
And now, she talks. Parang kani-kanina lang, ang hirap nitong kausapin. But he sees that as a good thing. Maybe she's slowly getting comfortable around him.
Nagkasalubong ang kanyang mga kilay, and he crossed his arms over his chest. "And what is a psychologist doing here in my house, applying as a cook?"
He arched his eyebrow at her and put his hands inside his pockets, his eyes never leaving hers. She stared back at him for a few moments at muntik na siyang mapamura habang iniisip ang posibleng ginawa nito habang nakatitig sa kanya.
Damn. . . is she reading his body language right now?
Gusto niyang tumikhim at mag-iwas ng tingin, but doing so would mean she would notice her effect on him.
Moments later, she shrugged. "Part time. I left my work and decided to work as a freelance psychologist instead."
Part time, huh?
"Why did you leave your work?"
"I thought there would be no interviews, Detective? You seem so interested in my life." He caught the corner of her lips curling upwards a little bit, making him smirk.
And now, she's smiling.
"Not interested. Just curious. Because I—"
"You weren't expecting that. But," she looked at him and. . . gave him a fucking smile, "that's understandable. I didn't put it on my resume, just my experience as a cook in a restaurant." Nagkibit-balikat ito. "Anyways, am I now hired, detective?"
Elisheva's upturned eyes were staring at him, and even though there was a small smile on her face, her eyes remained emotionless.
Fuck. This woman. . .
He wants to ask her a lot of questions, but now is not the time to do so. Her mind formulates a lot of things, and she knows how to analyze.
Sighing, he nods his head. "Yes. You may start now. The servant in the living room will bring you to your room."
"DETECTIVE, SOMEONE'S LOOKING for you."
It was in a slightly high-pitched voice, kaya naging cute ang boses nito. 'Di niya maiwasang mapangiti, pero kalauna'y kumunot ang noo niya.
Bakit si Elisheva ang tumatawag sa kanya?
With that question running through his mind, he replied, "Come inside."
The door creaked, breaking the silence of his office, and Alexander Futore, standing 6'2 tall, emerged. His cold hazel eyes, which were slightly hidden with his bangs, immediately looked at him. He was still in his three-piece suit and his right hand was inside his pocket.
Behind him stood Elisheva who was looking at the door knob as she closed the door.
"What are you doing here, motherfucker?"
