I looked at the watch on my wrist, bouncing my leg under the table of the lounge area. I haven't seen Ghost since this morning which is good. But then again... if I don't see him, I don't know what he's up to. What if he found out about my lie? He didn't object when I told him who the doctor was.. damn you, Ghost!!

*9:35 am*

Alright, just 5 more minutes until my supposed doctors appointment. I didn't actually have to get into the doctors office, I could just wait in the infirmary and walk out to make it seem... UGHH it's not gonna work! How could I have been so stupid! Out of all lies I could've told, I chose this!

*9:38 am*

I got up from the chair and walked out of the heavy double doors closing the lounge area. I walked in silence, a deafening silence. My palms were sweaty, my vision was a bit blurry even if my glasses sat comfortably on the bridge of my nose. Soon enough I managed to arrive to the infirmary, and with a big deep breath, I pushed the doors open.

A few pained screams filled the white tiled room and stains of blood plagued the sanitized floor. Soldiers were waiting to be checked whilst others were kicking and groaning in pain whilst being cured from various wounds. In my time at this base, I've seen many different types of wounds. I have had some myself but hearing those blood curling screams just makes your skin crawl every time.

I paced around the tiny waiting room until a nurse came out of the office to call in another patient

"My turn! Sorry guys, it's an emergency"

I said slipping into the office as the rest of the soldiers waiting gave me dirty, annoyed looks.

"You have to help me"

I told the nurse who looked at me worried. She let me sit on the uncomfortable infirmary table, only a curtain dividing me from the other screaming soldier

"What's wrong? Did you get shot? Broke a limb? Pregnancy?"

She pointed a flashlight into my pupils, whilst I held my hands in my lap

"No no. I need doctor Frank to visit me."

"Doctor Frank Gosling? He has the day off today, but I can send you another doctor"

"Whichever doctor is available, but be quick please"

She nodded and left me alone in the room to wait. I waited and waited. 10 minutes then 20 then 25. I was losing my patience until a middle aged woman came into the room with a huff

"Alright Miss. apologies for the wait, had a patient. Nurse told me you needed Doctor Frank but I'm here"

"Yes I need a signed certificate of temporary leave from all physical work"

"Are you pregnant or injured?"

"No but I really really REALLY need it. I beg you, help a fellow woman"

The doctor rubbed her forehead, an exasperated breath signaling me this wasn't the first time she was asked such nonsense

"I can only give you a two day bed rest signed permission, no more than that. And don't ever ask me such a thing again"

"Will do, doc. Thank you thank you thank you! You're a life saver!"

"Yeah yeah."

The Saint of a doctor she is finally let me go and I walked out with her signature in hand

"How did the appointment go?"

A voice asked whilst the door of the infirmary closed behind me. I whipped my head towards the source of it and saw Ghost standing there. He was wearing his tactical gear even whilst on temporary leave

"I need to be on bed rest for two days. Doctors orders'"

I said with a smirk, waving the signed paper in front of his face.

"Hm."

Was the only thing he managed to mutter before leaving me there to watch him walk away like an idiot. He truly does hate me- fuck. How am I gonna fix this mess? I have no idea.

I decided to meet up with Soap who was at the shooting range, aiming a rifle at the targets in front of him

"Hey"

"Oh hey! How did it go?"

"I got a signed leave from physical work for two days, you know what that means?"

I asked with a smile that went from ear to ear, Soap turning his head to read the paper in my hand

"No way- you really asked a doc to do that just to not see Ghost? You two must really despise each other"

"I don't despise him. I just don't particularly enjoy being around him. ESPECIALLY after the shower incident"

"You'll have to talk to him sooner or later. Your punishment won't last forever, so I'd at least talk it out before you two get back on the battlefield"

"How can I talk to him when I don't even have the courage to cross the hallway when he passes by, Soap!"

"Sounds like there's something a bit deeper than just hatred for each other. Seen it once too many times"

What was he insinuating? Me and ghost were teammates, nothing more, nothing less. Just teammates. Teammates..

I slapped his shoulder, earning a pained laugh from him

"Ow! Let a man fantasize, maybe you two might get along after a-"

"NO STOP! Shut your trash, Soap! Gross! How would you even think of such a scenario"

"Why not? 'Such a scenario' solves many problems. Plus, he needs a woman in his bed. Poor lad probably hasn't seen a naked lady in a decade"

"Even so! Why should I be the one?"

My cheeks burned, the devilish voice in the back of my head telling me that maybe soap was right. Maybe...

No! Maybe nothing! I can't fuck my Lieutenant! It's Ghost we're talking about, he'd throw me off a cliff would I actually ask him about it. But then again.. I could still fantasize. What he doesn't know can't  hurt him.
