[Hey babes! Thank you so so much for all the support and votes, as well the as the reads.]
[This is a bit of a short chapter and I have no many ideas going through my head that I'll need some more time to put them all into words.]
[I hope you guys won't miss our protagonist too much!]

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring. My phone lighting up with each vibration the music made. I opened my eyes groggily to find myself inside of my barracks in Mexico.
My face was sweaty, my body freezing cold.
Huh... strange.
The room was warm and snug, the blankets hugged me nicely as I laid there in a pile of thoughts and hot memories.
Finally, after some thought and the constant ringing in my ears I got up to get ready for the day.
Like a robot I turned off the alarm and dragged myself to the bathroom, washing my face and teeth before tackling the nest of hair on my head.
'What a cute possum I could've been had I not been born in this body.'
The whispering voice spoke in my mind, my eyes deceiving their own owner with the reflection of myself in the mirror.
I looked like a mess.
Had our intimate session prolonged itself so much I had no remembrance of it?
Too improbable.
Then why so...
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The faint knocks on my door made me snap out of my trance, forcing me to drag my heavy feet towards the sound.
The door opened after a few seconds of silence, Johnny standing before me with a smile.
"Sargent major, morning!"
He chirped like a pretty bird in a morning where the sun felt gentle enough to cradle you into a peaceful day. But it was far from peaceful for me.
"Morning, lad. Slept well?"
"Well enough I suppose. The bed springs kept poking me but I'm used to sleeping on stone-"
A scoff escaped my lips before he could continue his phrase, a chuckle following it right after.
His face could've been mistaken for someone who had just seen a madwoman on their doorstep.
"Did I say something funny?"
"Oh. No no, no Johnny. I just feel a bit off today."
"Huh. Well perhaps a good coffee and some breakfast might help, yeah?"
"Perhaps.."
My voice was strained and muscles were sore.
I followed the ray of sunshine through the hallways until we got to the main area and into the lounge room.
It was very luminous and the sounds of people talking and laughing was faint in my ears.
A man stood near the counter top, a laptop propped in front of him. It illuminated his mask so perfectly I almost lost myself watching him.
Such a mundane and normal thing for a man to do yet it was fascinating to me.
'Stop it, weirdo.'
I decided that if I couldn't stare I'd at least greet him, like I'd do usually. But this time it was a bit... different.
I approach him from behind, his large figure standing slightly slouched before me.
His back was so warm to hug and... scratch.
Wonder if those scars I gave him are still there.
"Lieutenant."
My voice was formal but held a tinge of sarcasm in it, a playful one. I reached my hand up to ruffle his hair, soft and... wet?
He grunted once he felt my hand mess up his hair and let his thickened accent be heard with a drop of grogginess to it.
"Mornin', annoying fly."
"Has your fever already gone down? You seem grumpy as per usual"
I turned my head, reaching my right hand to feel his exposed neck.
I saw a soft shiver go down his spine, his eyes following me whilst I moved to get to the coffee maker.
"It did, as a matter of fact; are YOU ok?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
His brows furrowed and those beautiful caramel eyes narrowed themselves at me as if analyzing every inch of my expression.
"For starters, your face looks like it's seen better days."
"Such as last night?"
My expression hid a cheeky grin but when my eyes met his, they were filled with genuine confusion.
"You don't remember?"
I asked a bit incredulous that he'd forget what we had so fast. Especially after he had said those three magic words.
"Remember what? My fight with the damn nurse?"
My blood ran cold and my face drained of all color.
Was I going insane?
Was this all a bitter joke?
Had I been drugged and that night was just... a hallucination?
"Ha ha. What a funny joke, Ghost."
I was nervous and it was clear as day I felt uncertain about my answer. He had to be messing with me, but if he had...
...he would've already made a comment on it.
