The time passed, not his fever. He was getting worse by the minute, but god forbid he says anything. He seemed to wake up from his nap, seeing his lashes bat with every blink. The plane was room temperature. Comfortable for us but probably too cold to him.

Fuck it.

I can't see him like this.

I stood up to stretch and grab the tiny medical kit hanging on the wall. Ghost didn't move from his position, but I could see his breathing becoming lighter. Almost faint. I set it down next to him, earning a grumpy glance from him.

"What are you doing."

"Take this. And don't argue with me."

I handed him a small bottle with some liquid in it. Mostly antibiotic but I had a few tricks up my sleeve to make his fever go down before we land

"I don't want it."

"Nah ah, open."

I ordered him whilst he looked away from me. If I had to force it down your throat, I'll do just that moody bastard

"Leave me alone. Fucking bitch"

"Yeah yeah, shut the fuck up and pull up your mask"

"I said no. Are you hard of hearing?"

"I am."

I straddled his lap with my legs, standing in front of him. He had to raise his head to look at me, the redness of his eyes evident

"Annoying fly."

"Grumpy cunt."

He grumbled and mumbled curses under his breath finally complying to pull his mask up. His lips were pale, the stubble cupping his face made him look even hotter than the fever itself.

Kat. Stop. He's sick and you're being horny.

"Open."

"Yeah yeah..."

Ghost finally opened his mouth, tilting his head back to let me pour the antibiotic in his mouth. Gaz stared at us, a cheeky smirk plastered on his face

"Swallow it down"

This fucker shook his head, furrowing his brows at the bitterness of the liquid

"Swallow. Now."

"Mmh!"

"I can't understand shit, let it down already. My god."

He finally gulped, coughing after the antibiotic left its spiteful taste behind

"What the fuck did you give me. Tasted like boiled shite"

"It's not supposed to taste good. It'll help with your fever, idiot"

"I didn't ask for your help."

"You don't ask for help period. I can't have you get shot down because you can't function"

I wiped the little droplets that stained his chin, looking at him a bit too intensely

"I'm.."

"Hm? You're what?"

"Get away from me.."

"No, Ghost. I'm trying to make you feel better-"

"Kat get aw-"

Poor thing couldn't even finish speaking before he covered my chest and stomach up in vomit. I closed my eyes and bit my lip to not focus on the smell. I had an easy gag reflex but years of experience with nieces and nephews. A normal Wednesday for me. I let out a breath, hearing him cough and gag again.

"Fuck... my bad.."

"Did you get it all out?"

"I think.. I told you to move."

"You tell me to move all the time, could've used your big boy words to say you felt sick too"

I grabbed a few tissues from Price, who finally stood up to check on his soldier as well. The vomit wasn't too disgusting, but the smell was.

What concerned me most was the absence of any traces of food, but the smell of old liquor gone bad

"Christ, Simon. What's gotten into you, mate? You hang in there, we're landing in a bit"

"I'm fine, Price. Must've been the turbulence"

"That's a convenient excuse. The problem is that you've eaten nothing but Bourbon, Ghost. Surprised you didn't fall in a coma"

"Fuck off will ya? What I do is none of your damn business"

He just didn't get it already did he? Slow brain, no balls, no common sense grumpy old sag of shit. Had it been someone else she would've let you faint from exhaustion

"I'm not letting you get on the battlefield. Not in this state. We have 12 hours before the actual mission, if you don't get better by then, you're staying on base. Clear?"

"Hope you walk on a mine."

I rolled my eyes, having had enough of his stubbornness and reckless disregard of his health.

I grabbed his face to force his gaze onto me.

"That's a direct order, Lieutenant. Is it clear?"

He held my gaze for a while, probably contemplating on what to say next. Maybe even trying to come up with a new way to insult and berate me. Yet to my surprise he looked away

"Yes Ma'am."
