Craig's Trial

Craig awoke to a soft voice, saying something to him, although it was as if his ears were perpetually ringing. "Dang, what is that ringing?" Craig reached out, or rather, he tried to. It was as if he had no control over his body. Craig's body, or what he assumed was his body, started moving forward, in a motion familiar to him. "Oh, I'm walking? This is weird not being the one telling my body to move." Regardless of how weird this feeling was, he wasn't able to control whatever was happening. Craig closed his "eyes" and decided that he would try and meditate. Anything happening around Craig currently didn't do anything to affect him, and suddenly, he was shot out of the water in the cave once again. "Damn, what just happened?" Then it hit him. "Oh, I think I'm supposed to let whatever happens in there just happen." Craig takes a deep breath and sinks back into the water, this time allowing himself to relax completely.

When Craig awoke, all he could see around him was fire, trees, the grass, and a wrecked car. "I kinda liked the other one better." Craig chuckled but immediately realized that his voice was higher than usual, and his hands were smaller as well. Craig's eyes went wide as he realized what this was. "NO! LET ME OUT OF THIS!" Suddenly, Craig could see a bright light fill his vision, and when he blinked, he was in the backseat of that dreaded car once again. "No no no no no no no no. This can't be happening. This can't be happening." Craig was starting to hyperventilate, and suddenly he heard it, the sound of a semi-truck horn. Craig tried to save his family, but it was like nobody could hear him, and not only that, he was taking the same actions he did over a decade ago. In Craig's mind, he was screaming at himself and his dad to stop and look at the road, but nobody heard him. "Dammit, Craig! Stop messing with your sister. She's trying to sleep!" Bryce raised his voice at his son as he stared at him through the rear view mirror. Sighing, he looked at him once again. "Craig, please buddy, if you leave your sister alone the rest of the car ride, I'll get some of your favorite dessert." Craig had instantly stopped messing with his sister and sat still. "Really?! Ice cream! Ice cream!" Craig's 5 year old self was easily persuaded. Abby, Craig's mom, laughed at both of them as she spoke to Bryce. "He certainly has his father's appetite." They both laughed, and Craig looked out the window to see a man standing there, just watching their car as they drove by him. He was running towards their car, so Craig decided he needed to notify his dad. Internally, Craig tried his best to stop himself, but it was no use. The higher his power went, the smaller he seemed to be in that moment. "Daddy! There's a man running towards the car! Look!" Craig jumped out of his seat, and when he looked out the window behind him, Craig's dad started to raise his voice. "Craig! Sit down in your seat now! I won't tell you again, now sit down!" Craig, for some reason, decided he didn't want to listen to his dad as he saw the man chasing close to them, parkouring over cars, but nobody seemed to even notice the man, except for Craig. Bryce finally turned around and grabbed Craig by the arm and, with one motion, planted him on his butt. "Craig, that is not how you act in a car! If we had an accident, you could be hurt very badly!" Bryce turned back around and continued to drive, sighing as he looked in the rear view mirror at Craig. "Look, I'm not mad. You just can't be doing stuff like that, or you could get hurt, buddy." Bryce looked back at the road just in time to see the semi not even a foot from the car, and Bryce threw the wheel to the right. In the span of a split second, Craig and his sister had been enveloped in a strange light. Craig's 5 year old self couldn't see it, but Craig himself definitely could. "Dad, y-you saved us." Bryce had shielded both him and his sister, minimizing the damage to them.

Craig tried not to watch this part, but it was as if everything was moving in slow motion as both Craig's watched everything. The car hit the guard rail, breaking it, and causing the car to start to roll. With each roll, Craig could see his parents' faces being ripped apart, along with their bodies, getting stabbed with breaking glass and the hood denting so bad that it crushed his mother's skull, making blood splatter on the inside of the car. Craig started to cry, both of them actually. The car then gained some air, and a scent hit Craig's nose instantly, gasoline. The car hit the ground hard and knocked Craig and his sister out of the car. Their shields dissipated, and they both slid across the ground, causing some decent injuries, considering they're both 5. Craig looked up at the car as it kept skidding and causing sparks to fly, suddenly catching the gasoline on fire, and before he could even move, the car blew up, blowing his mom and dad's bodies out of it. In Bryce's case, half of him flew out of the car, with his bare muscles showing and parts of his skull as well. Craig's 5 year old body was pumped with adrenaline as he crawled over to his dad's body, and it was as if he was staring into an icy abyss. Craig looked on in horror as his dad's guts, or rather, what wasn't with his bottom half, slid down to the ground. Craig screamed, and as he saw it, he puked, causing him to cry more. "Daddy! Wake up!" Craig couldn't comprehend what was truly going on, or at least, his 5 year old self couldn't. Craig himself was crying as he felt powerless. Craig watched as the fire raged on, and he stood up, but as he walked around, he realized that his sister was nowhere to be seen. "Lily! Lily, where you are?!" Craig walked towards the car, and he saw his mother's corpse, as well as his father's bottom half, causing him to scream and cry even harder. Craig was lost. He didn't know what to do, and he didn't know where to go. Craig sat by his dad's body and cried, and finally, when police and the ambulances showed up, Craig saw a bright light and was back in the car.
