Harrison was right.

Not that you're really surprised.

Getting home that evening you had a nice full crying session, but ultimately, you felt good. Better than you had in the last few months. That short conversation with a doppelganger of your late brother had given you the closure you'd been struggling to find. It felt great to look in the mirror and not feel like you were broken.

The knock at your door brings you back to earth, and you smile, moving over to open it. Harrison is standing there with a bottle of wine and a bouquet of flowers.

"A little housewarming gift."

You step aside and he walks in.

"I love the new place. It must be better than the smell of mechanical oil and other suspicious lab liquids."

You laugh, taking the bouquet of flowers that he hands you.

"Thank you. I'm going to put these in water. Would you mind setting that on the counter?"

"Not at all."

You busy yourself in the kitchen, filling a vase as you place the flowers inside. When you walk back in, you put it on your round table.

"It's a little smaller than your big mansion I'm sure. But it almost feels like home. "

He understands. Despite all the tough memories there, it still holds that sentiment. You couldn't completely erase that.

"I'm glad you're finally settling in."

You are. It's all thanks to him.

"Harrison, actually I just wanted to thank you. Everything that you're doing for me. It's not easy. I'm not the easiest person to deal with, but you still trust me and that means a lot."

Harrison waves his hand.

"At the end of the day everything that we do is a choice. If I can show you that you're worth every effort, then you can help another view the same in the future."

"Pay it forward?" You ask.

He nods.

"That's the only way to enrich the world, isn't it?"

You suppose that he does have a point. Maybe if more people thought that way, the world wouldn't be filled with so much hate.

"You're one of a kind Harrison Wells."

He grins.

"I've been told that before."

He nudges his glasses playfully and you can't help but smile. There are no words to express your gratitude, or how much you would like to repay him for his kindness. You do hope your sentiments reach him.

"Harrison, I hope one day you receive just as much as you've given me. Maybe more."

There's a sincerity in your gaze that makes him pause.

It's taken a while for you to get to this position where you truly see that you deserve another chance. It's been his hope since you got here. Looking at you actually embracing it is remarkable to say the least. He suppose this is what it feels like being a hero. Saving people. His hope is to continue to see your smile.

"Thank you. (Y/N)."

"Anytime."
