Everything was quiet.
The lowermoons all bowed down, their faces touching the floors.
The uppermoons were a bit more relaxed, though. But not too much that it showed disrespect.
"I'm expecting good news..." A sudden voice chimed through the whole castle.
I looked up to see a man with red eyes that seemed to glow in the dim light. He was very pale.
The man shut the book he was reading. The surroundings were so quiet that the sound of the book closing echoed around us.
"Or you useless creations wouldn't have fooled around." He snarled, his eyes gazing on each one of us.
He must be the demon king.
I shifted uncomfortably.
Everyone was quiet.
The demon king didn't seem too pleased by that.
"Well?" He asked, slamming his book down on the table in front of him. "I asked you something."
No one answered.
The demon king scoffed slightly before calling out uppermoon one. "Kokushibo. Any information about the blue spider lily?"
"I'm afraid not, Muzan-sama." Kokushibo replied calmly.
"B-but, if you would give us more time—" A lowermoon spoke up, stuttering over her words.
The demon king's eyes flashed. "Did I give you permission to speak, lowermoon three?"
"I–I apologize–! Truly, sir—! I didn't–" The lowermoon stumbled over her words.
"I said," The demon king's eyes widened as veins popped out of his head. "Did I give you permission to speak?"
In an instant, the lowermoon's head was blown off.
I let out a little yelp, seeing the horrifying scene happen right in front of me.
Disgusting.
The demon king's head shifted towards me slightly.
Shoot.
I didn't want to draw attention to myself.
"Why is a spirit in my castle again?" He asked, shaking the lowermoon's blood off his hands. "Who are you, lifeless mortal?"
I opened my mouth, but my throat closed up.
The demon king glared at me. "You're lucky I can't kill you right now."
Then he mumbled something like; "worthless spirit".
How friendly of a guy.
"You all are dismissed." The demon king said, annoyance in his tone. "You know what to do. Don't disappoint me again, got it?"
"Yes, Muzan-sama." All the demons said, bowing even deeper than they already are.
"And you," The demon king pointed at me, which startled me from my seat. "Stay here."
I gazed over at Kokushibo, clueless of what to do.
Uppermoon one got up, and so did Akaza.
Without a word, Kokushibo left the room.
Looks like he didn't see the helpless glance I gave him.
"Just stay here." Akaza told me instead. "You're a spirit. You'll be alright, if that's what you're worried about. I'll wait for you right out this door."
