                              ADELINE

The sound of the shower turning on caused me to stir in my sleep. When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by darkness with only the smallest bit of light cascading into the room from the moon that hung high above in the sky. I must've slept for much longer than I expected to. After a moment of blinking, my eyes finally adjusted and I could see the rest of the room.

Looking over into the bathroom, I instantly noticed the steam rising from the shower. I couldn't see through the glass with how foggy it already was but I could still make out Braxton's figure. Suddenly feeling intrusive, I pushed the blanket off of myself. My legs instantly became covered with goosebumps at the temperature change. I ignored the chill that ran up my spine as I walked across the hall into the spare bedroom. Ember meowed softly as I crawled under the sheets next to her.

After a few minutes, I was almost back asleep when the sound of Braxton turning the shower off caught my attention. I could hear the glass door open and shut and then faint footsteps followed as he exited the bathroom. And then there was silence for a moment, until his footsteps started again. His steps got louder getting and I knew he was coming over to the spare room I was in.

"Adeline come back to bed." his deep voice was quiet, coated with tiredness.

I turned over to see him standing in the doorway with nothing but a towel hanging on his hips. His hair was still wet, dripping slightly over his face. My eyes wandered down his bare chest, looking at each perfect ab muscle before ogling the v shape that disappeared into the edge of his towel.

"I'm just gonna sleep he-"

"I am not in the mood. Come back to bed." He cut me off before turning around and walking back across the hallway into his bedroom.

I rolled my eyes while I laid there debating on whether or not to obey him. After a moment, I decided it was best to listen. He definitely didn't seem in the mood. I wandered what happened when he went for a run. I thought he was going to be happy when he came back and saw that I was still here. That I hadn't left him again. Something had to have pissed him off.

I made my way back into his room, quickly noting that he wasn't in sight. I crawled into the same spot in the bed that I had just left. He emerged from his closet a moment later, wearing only a pair of black boxers. I pulled my eyes from his body before he got too close and turned so I was facing the large windows. I felt the bed shift as he laid down.

I was expecting, or maybe more so hoping, for him to lay close to me. Maybe even try and cuddle me, which I instantly cringed at myself for even thinking. But he did neither. I couldn't stop myself from feeling anger begin to boil within me. He still hasn't touched me at all since he found me in the hotel. It's driving me crazy.

Angrily, I rolled over so I was facing him. His eyes were closed and was laying on his back. One arm was tucked behind his head and the other was resting on his stomach. My eyes scanned down his body like they had a few minutes ago, admiring each muscle for a moment before landing on the black hem of his boxers. The lower half of his body disappeared underneath the blanket. I chewed my lip and watched for a moment as his chest moved up and slowly with each breath.

Finally, I pulled my eyes from his body and let them rest on his face. His dark eyelashes brushed his cheeks. He looked so peaceful. It was annoying. I let out a deep sigh as I felt a scowl form on my face. I couldn't help but stop myself from feeling like he didn't even care that I was physically right in front of him now. I thought he would want to be close to me.

"You should get some rest Adeline." He spoke without even opening his eyes.

"I'm not feeling very tired." I stated, letting my voice show my annoyance.
