Alexandras POV
Alexandra sat at the massive desk facing the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked Central Park. She barely went into this office, only if there were urgent matters, even then it was done begrudgingly.
It was all hers now.
It seems too big, she thought, it hadn't been this large when her Father took residence here.
Her Father.
She had found out about his heart attack just yesterday before the morning hours, rushing to the hospital to see what Frances had already confirmed, he was gone.
Not even an hour later she was informed of her new promotion, CEO.
Her Uncle then burst into the private waiting room she and Frances had been talking in, screaming obscenities about how she must've organized this. She barely paid him any mind though, her ears ringing from what she had just been told.
She promptly left the hospital an hour later, after seeing her brother and cousin and sharing condolences. It was rushed, and didn't have an ounce of emotion but that wasn't what any of them needed at that moment.
So that's what led her to now, sitting at this absurdly large desk, wondering what the hell to do now. She knew, of course, the piles of papers on her desk spelling out exactly what she needed to do.
It wasn't like she hadn't been overworked before, she ran the pharmaceutical sector which was a lot of work in itself. But this was a lot, she was excellent at her job, just not great at delegating.
The phone on her desk buzzed and a voice came in "Ms Astor, Frances wants to speak about an event regarding the jewelry sector, may I send her in?" Kristen her assistant asked. She liked the young girl, it wasn't often that someone with her level of optimism worked at the company, well except for Thomas, but he was really only hired because they were mates.
Holding the small red button, she spoke "Yes, send her in, thanks, Kristen."
"Of course!" Her assistant said a little too loudly through the speaker. Alexandra watched as her door opened and she went to greet Frances but the woman just held a finger up, signaling she was on the phone.
She rolled her eyes, even if she was the older woman's boss some things would just stay the same, and she was thankful.
"Yes, I'm going to show her the designs now, I'll call back for which one she picks and her measurements...great, bye," Frances said as she sat down in one of the two chairs that sat across from Alexandra, the chairs significantly smaller than her own.
"You have a gift for me?" Alexandra asked cheekily as Frances put the folder she had been holding onto the desk, sliding it towards her. "Not at all, you have an event, tomorrow, and before you complain, it's mandatory, they were expecting your father's presence."
