Alexandras POV

Lunch was great, Alex could not remember the last time she had felt that at ease with a person outside her work circle, that might've also been due to the fact that she did not have friends but it was still quite refreshing.

She enjoyed getting to know Taylor and found herself listening to every word the blonde said.

It was funny, she got bored of people pretty fast but that was not at all the case with Taylor.

She surprised herself by asking the blonde to have lunch again, but she knew she did not want it to be a one-time thing.

She actually surprised herself quite a lot at lunch, taking Taylor's phone and inputting her number and even telling Taylor about her mother's passing.

She hadn't spoken about that with anyone in a long time.

Alex was excited though, she had made a friend.

She just wondered now how long it would take Taylor to go sprinting in the other direction.

The CEO poured herself a drink before going down to meet Thomas, something about him wanting to discuss horizontal expansion for the healthcare sector.

Thomas and Alex met in their first year of uni and clicked instantly, which was surprising because their backgrounds couldn't be more different.

Thomas grew up in a very low-income household with his single mother. His father left when he was a baby and his mom worked three jobs just to support him.

He worked his ass off to get into Cambridge where he met Alex and they instantly bonded over their shared work ethic.

Sure Thomas loved to goof off and have fun, but he took the motto "work hard play hard" straight to heart.

After university, Thomas got a job at one of Astor Inc's rival companies and when news of him being friends with the CEO's daughter got to his boss, he was fired.

So obviously, Alex offered him a job at Astor, which he tried to refuse but she insisted that it was basically her fault that he was fired.

And now they worked together, and Alex couldn't be happier that she got to see her best friend almost every day. Sometimes he was the only one who knew exactly what would make her feel better.

She headed into his office, not bothering to knock and seeing that he had his reading glasses on and was looking over documents.
