Twenty two

I'm Yeosang, a 23 year old boy who has a little sister, not so little, only a year younger, but still. Her name is Ria and she is turning twenty-two. She isn't a person who would make big parties or anything, but she wants to make a family dinner. But not just mum, dad, her and I.

She's telling us she wants to invite Seonghwa, my boyfriend, and Jongho. At first, I was like, why Jongho? But then it hit me.

"You are dating Jongho? Since when? How did you never tell me? I thought I was your best friend." I said in disbelief jokingly.

"Oh son, let her be." My father patted me on my shoulder. "Ria, sweetheart, if Jongho is your boyfriend, he's welcome to come. And yeosang, that's the chance we meet your boyfriend finally too."

My parents kept talking about the day and work when Ria called me. "Are you really mad? I meant to tell you, but I didn't know how. Jongho asked me out only a week ago, so it's quite recent." She sounded apologetic.

I confronted her, saying it was alright, and I would never be mad at her.

Now I have to think of a gift for her. I have exactly 5 days, great. I'll tell Hwa tomorrow in class.

Tuesday morning, I met Seonghwa at the entrance of the building. We walk together to class while I tell him the news.

"Oh, so I'm going to your house? I can't wait to see your room." He said with a sneaky smile.

"Who said you're going to my room? Don't say that." I could feel my ears getting red by the thought.

"Haha, I'm joking, Sangie. But I'm glad you're inviting me. I'll make your parents see I'm a great boyfriend and wait, so she's going out with Jongho, that's cute. I always knew they had a thing for each other."

"How is that you knew but I didn't? It's true that Jongho would come home to make projects and sometimes chill or play games... now that I think about it, yeah, they are meant to be." I confirmed sitting down at my desk.

The next three days are plenty of school work and activities and no time to think of a gift. But finally, Friday, the last class ended, and I grabbed Seonghwas hand to drag him with me.

"Where are we going?" He asked, following me.

"We are going shopping for two things. One is Rias birthday gift and another is that we need a good outfit for tomorrow, we need to impress my parents." I say.

"Okay, Sangie. But let's walk by my house first, it's getting cold and we can't catch a cold on your sister's birthday." We walked to seonghwas' house, greeted his parents, I got a fluffy hat with a coat, he got another coat with a scarf and we went outside.

We walked towards the main city with the shopping stores. Going through a few clothing shops, we tried some outfits, but none was convincing.

While we were looking for a gift for Ria, Seonghwa walked towards the plushies section and I to another side. I was looking at some frames, thinking if one would match to Rias bedroom. My decision was made, and I took one for her in a pastel blue color. Moments later, I find Seonghwa with a little bear plushie in hand.

"We could give her this too, and tell her to imagine it's Jongho when he's not there." We both laughed and bought the items.

In the end, we were also able to find fancy matching outfits for the dinner. We also went to eat something for ourselves and made it like a small date, since we didn't have much time with each other this week.

The next day. It's the day, Rias' birthday. I woke up early since I planned with my mother to bake her favorite cake. We talked while preparing everything.

"Son, I hope you're not nervous. Your father and I are really happy that we can finally meet Seonghwa. I remember when you told Ria and I that you would ask him out, and I won that bet against your father. Anyways, what I mean is that I know he's a good boy and you're gonna be happy with him."

"Thank you, mum. It was stressing me out a bit everything but in the end, I do really need to thank Ria." I smiled.

It was almost 8 pm, mum, dad, and I had everything prepared for Ria and the two invited ones. We had set the table, we prepared the living room for movies and had drinks in the fridge for later.

I was looking at myself with my outfit in the mirror, and my hair had to look good in this new full black dye. Just then, I received a text from Hwa saying he'd be here in a minute.

So I went downstairs to meet my parents who were also wearing good outfits, my mum with a light purplish dress with a black light coat and dad with a good white smokin and a purple tie to match mum.

"You look great, mum, wow, and dad too. Can't wait to see Ria." I said when the doorbell rang. "I'll go get it, be right back"
I sighed just before opening the door to meet my handsome, really hot boyfriend, Park Seonghwa.

We shared a little kiss before getting his coat on the hamger and inviting him to the living room.

"I brought Rias gift, I tried not making it obvious, but it looks like a stuffed animal is packed." Hwa commented showing the present.

"Oh, so this is Seonghwa. We are so happy to finally meet you, son." Said my mother, approaching Hwa, giving him a huge hug. Next, my father also greeting him. It seemed that this part was going just fine.

"Mum? Is Jongho here? Oh! Welcome Seonghwa." Ria appeared from upstairs. She was wearing a beautiful sky blue dress that made her look like a fairy.

"Happy birthday Ria, thank you for inviting me tonight."

Didn't take long until the door bell rang again and this time Ria went to take it. We all greeted Jongho happily.

We had dinner in between conversations and jokes. Our parents looked so happy seeing both of their kids, having a cheerful life with good partners.

After eating we sat in the sofas, chatting some more. We gave all our gifts to Ria, which she loved so much. And after a long night it was time to go to bed.

"Boys, if you want you can stay the night. Yeosang, you can invite your boyfriend to your room. But Ria, don't you dare. Jongho can sleep in the gusts room." Our mother said kinda drunk heading to her room.

It went silent for a moment before Ria walked towards Seonghwa to say: "If you do anything to my lovely brother, just telling you that our parents room is just next to Sangies. Night!" She said taking Jonghos hand and walking to their room.

I ignored her words and took seonghwa to my room. Then I remembered that he didn't have any pajamas, but I had a shirt from him for some reason so I gave it to him.

"You can take a shower first and use this, it's yours anyways hehe. I'll prepare some blankets and pillows. You can sleep on my bed, I'll sleep on the floor... unless you don't mind sleeping next to each other?" I said every word more quietly.

He approached me to say he wouldn't mind anything. "If you're comfortable then I can sleep next to you, no rush." And walked to shower.

At the end we slept next to each other, more like, into each other's arms. I couldn't resist to hug him, putting my head on his shoulder. It was like hugging a giant bear.

"You know, I think my parents love you already. I was was nervous over nothing. Love you" I said in a smile hugging him more.

"Yes, I was worried too but your parents are the most lovely couple ever. Next time, let's make a dinner for your parents and bring mine too. So they meet each other." Hwa suggested. I nodded agreeing.

"Sleep well baby. Love you Sangie"
