Dusk

Chapter 1

For many centuries, Vampires and Werewolves were at war; the wolves fought to protect their pack while the Vampires seeked power and control. One fateful night a young woman was running through the woods trying to protect her son; however, as she saw a well and lowered her son inside, she said, "be safe my little one". The boy cried as his mother disappeared into the night with her words echoing, 'there will be a day when a Wolf and Vampire will fall in love and all bloodshed will end uniting both worlds'. Time passes with young boy being found and adopted into another pack as Jacob while growing up with Misty who becomes his mate. Years pass by as Jacob is at the hospital with Misty who is about to give birth to their daughter. Misty screams, "AAAAAAAAAH!! MAKE THE PAIN STOP!!". Jacob says, "darling, deep breath you can do this". Misty curses and screams before soon giving birth to a beautiful baby girl; Jacob holds her in his arm saying, "our beautiful little Veronica". Misty falls asleep while the doctor takes Veronica to the baby ward for a checkup. Jacob watches from the glass window as he smiles with happiness thinking, 'mom would have been so proud if she was still here...'. A few days later Misty is discharged from the hospital with Veronica whilst Jacob has already prepared to welcome their baby daughter. Misty comes home to see the decoration as she says, "Jacob who is going to clean up all this mess?." Jacob replies, "It's not a big deal, darling." Misty rolls her eyes as Veronica cries and Jacob settles her down. Jacob sings a lullaby to Veronica who soon falls asleep; months pass as Misty begins to feel further withdrawn from Veronica as Jacob notices this saying, "you are her mother, you are not even trying to bond with her." Misty says, "I do not know what I feel for her." However, Misty soon attempts to make things better and slowly builds a relationship with her daughter; Veronica grows up quickly as her sixth birthday party approaches. 

Jacob hands a small golden-box present to Veronica who asks, "daddy, what is this?." Jacob replies, "it's a present for you, Ronnie." Veronica opens to see a small silver pendant as she thanks her dad who makes her wear it. Veronica says, "I wish mom was here...." The party began in full swing with many of the pack members joining the celebrations. Jacob tracks Misty down in the woods in a drunken state, he helps her back home as Veronica watches her mom stumble in. Jacob says, "I will be back in a moment." Though, a few weeks later Veronica overhears her mom and dad arguing and runs into the woods at night. There is a heavy rainstorm and thunder in the sky as she trips over a log and looks up to see a figure standing overhead. Veronica asks, "w-who are you?!." Vladmir comes in front of her with his red eyes as he says, "you don't look like you are from around here...." Veronica says, "your eyes.... you are a V-Vampire." Veronica remembers stories from when she was younger in which Vampires are the enemy as she turns to run away however Vladmir grabs her arm as a branch falls from the tree. Veronica looks at Vladmir whose eyes have changed to blue as he says, "look, if you think I was going to kill you, you're wrong... I know you are probably scared of me." Veronica says, "you saved my life!." Vladmir extends his hand to her saying, "I'm Vladmir but you can call me Vlad." Veronica shakes his hand as she says, "I'm Veronica but you can call me Ronnie." Vlad and Veronica share a smile as the storm begins to calm down whilst Veronica says, "I better head home, my parents will be worried for me." Vladmir offers to drop her home however Veronica insists she will be ok. Vladmir flies off as Veronica places her hand on the ground and changes into her wolf form before heading home. 

Jacob asks, "where were you, Ronnie? You can't go disappearing like that, especially in a heavy storm." Veronica says, "I am sorry daddy, I won't do it again." Jacob tucks Veronica into bed and kisses her forehead as Veronica closes her eyes thinking of Vlad. Elsewhere Vlad was at his mansion looking from the window at the moon thinking, 'I don't know why but I feel like Veronica is something special.....' The next morning Veronica wakes up for school as she comes down to see her dad making breakfast; Veronica asks, "where's mummy?." Jacob replies, "good morning Ronnie, Misty had to go early for a work meeting." Veronica got ready as Jacob thought, 'I hate having to lie to my daughter, but I don't want to worry her.' Veronica sensed something was being hidden from her however decided to not ask further questions. Veronica says, "breakfast smells great, daddy." Jacob brings over a plate with mini pancakes, bacon and eggs saying, "only the best for my little girl."
