Dusk

Chapter 14

A few moments later there was a knock on the door as Vladmir says, "dinner's ready." Veronica headed downstairs thinking, 'having dinner with Vlad's family is truly a blessing, there is never silence, they share they day and laugh about anything.' Veronica drinks the soup as Lucas soon farts with everyone lifting their noses. Veronica was in deep thoughts thinking, 'if only dad had never abandoned me, what would my life be like?.' Later that evening as everyone was asleep; Veronica was downstairs in the living room as Vladmir saw her saying, "hey". Veronica looks up saying, "oh, hey". Vladmir asks, "what are you doing here?". Veronica replies, "I couldn't sleep". Vlad says, "why? are you ok?". Veronica says, "I just keep on getting nightmares, it's like they still have a hold of me". Vladmir says, "that must be tough". Veronica says, "I will manage, I always do... so- what about you? why are you up so late?". Vladmir replies, "I wanted to get a glass of blood". Veronica says, "oh". Vladmir asks, "you wanna watch a movie?". Veronica replies, "are you sure? I don't want to ruin your sleep schedule". Vladmir chuckles replying, "I'm a creature of the undead, it's no worries besides it's been a while since I've watched a movie". Veronica says, "sure". A few hours later Veronica fell asleep on Vladmir's shoulder as he thinks, 'atleast she is sleeping, poor girl has been through so much I should take her to my room'. Vladmir gently lifts her thinking, 'I'm glad that being close to her made her fall asleep, she needs rest'. 

Veronica curled up to him as she places him on his bed, but Veronica does not let him go. Vladmir tries to free himself, but it doesn't work so he lays next to her. The next morning Veronica awakes as she feels herself quite warm before soon noticing Vladmir sleeping beside her as she says, "what the hell?." Vladmir says, "stop moving." Veronica asks, "why are you in bed with me, Vlad?." Vladmir replies, "because I carried you here and you wouldn't let go of me, Ronnie... now go back to sleep, you need it." Veronica says, "I'm fine, I need to go for a run." Vladmir wakes up saying, "before you go..." Veronica says, "yeah?." Vladmir says, "go on a date with me?." Veronica says surprised, "what?." Vladmir replies, "would you like to go on a date with me?." Veronica replies, "well... um.. sure... when?." Vladmir replies, "how about tonight?." Veronica says, "but we have college?." Vladmir says, "I only have one class today, and you?." Veronica replies, "I have three." Vladmir says, "then I will have Esme pick you up and take you shopping." Veronica says, "but we went shopping a few days ago." Vladmir says, "and you will go again, buy anything you need." Veronica says, "I already have everything I need." Vladmir asks, "are you sure, Ronnie?." Veronica replies, "yes, Vlad now I need to go." Vladmir asks, "but what about breakfast?." Veronica gets up replying, "I can't today."  Vladmir says, "well you should be the one to explain to my mom." Veronica worries asking, "will it be bad?." Vladmir says, "you have no idea." 

Veronica heads to the washroom saying, "I will take my chances." As she comes downstairs Bianca sees her by the door saying, "sweetheart where are you going?." Veronica replies, "a run, I will be back soon." Bianca says, "you will miss breakfast." Veronica says, "save me some." Veronica leaves as she thinks whilst running, 'I needed this... clear my mind... everything is happening so fast.' After a few hours Veronica heads back and gets ready for class as Bianca hands her a packed lunch saying, "you missed breakfast, so this is for you." Veronica says, "thanks." She soon heads to college and does her classes as the afternoon arrives Veronica comes outside the gate of college where Esme comes in on her motorbike saying, "GET ON LOSER! WE ARE GOING SHOPPING!." Veronica says, "really? we are quoting Mean Girls now? and we are not even going shopping." Esme says, "of course we are, you need a fancy, but casual dress and we have not brought one of these yet." Veronica says, "I hate you." Esme says, "there's a helmet for you in the back and I know you love me, really." Veronica hesitated as Esme understood saying, "baby steps, we will get there." Esme soon drove to the mall as Veronica did not know what to wear but Esme was there to guide her. As they soon came home Vladmir says, "mom me and Ronnie are going on a date." Bianca says, "young love, have fun." Poppy says, "can I come with you, bro?." Vladmir replies, "no, it will just be me and Ronnie." Veronica heads upstairs to get ready as she wonders, 'was this such a good idea?.' Maia speaks to her, 'he is our mate and deserves a chance... he has been nothing but good to us.' Veronica still felt hesitant remembering what she went through.
