Lando couldn't figure out whether it was a figment of his imagination or if he was getting a younger teammate with incredible skill, just like himself. He was excited for Oscar to join McLaren, yet still saddened by the loss of a great friend of his. He couldn't let Danny's loss make him nervous about a new teammate. Sure, losing Carlos was a lot, but at least he wasn't out of the sport, Danny, on the other hand, is leaving the grid completely. It was disheartening for Lando, as it probably was for everyone else. Everyone would miss his fun personality and his cheeky demeanour, not just him.
"We'll get on well, I'm sure of it." Lando Sighed. "I think I'm sure of it..."
He still thought it was strange. An Alpine Reserve Driver, really? There was no way it could be true, he's a gifted, young driver. Who would be willing to get rid of him?
Lando messaged Carlos.

Lando still wasn't convinced that Oscar Piastri was going to be his teammate. He was sure that it was announced he'd be joining Alpine anyway. And didn't he drive for Alpine Academy? It didn't make sense. Why would it be announced that Oscar was joining Alpine, then it be announced he's joining McLaren? Formula 1 didn't make sense sometimes, or most times, more like. He still couldn't wait to meet him.
The 2023 F1 season would kick off in a few weeks, Lando had hoped that these few weeks would go by a bit slower, but not all things work in one's favour, sometimes. Before he'd know it, he'd be back in that damn car and racing again. Best make the most of these next few weeks offtrack. He planned on going away with his racemates. Maybe Oscar will be there too. He packed his suitcase; it was almost full. They were only going away for a week, or so, but you can never pack too much for a vacation.
He left his place and hopped in his car, dusting off his denim jeans and McLaren polo. He sighed out of nerve, if Oscar was going to be there, Lando wanted to make a good first impression, for whatever reason. He drove to the harbour to meet everyone.
