13.

Minji and Hanni got closer these past few weeks. But something has been bothering Minji lately. Everytime she would ask the Aussie girl to hangout, Hyein would tag along. Little did she know that the little one always begged her friend to come with her because she was too anxious to see Minji one on one. Hyein, on the other hand, loved this situation. It was so funny to tease Minji in her opinion. Yes, she was a bully.

However, Hanni did start to notice that Minji was always grumpy around Hyein. She didn't know anything about Hyein's schemes, that's why she genuinely thought they hated each other's guts. She felt like she needed to do something about it.

"I don't understand, why can't you get along with her ? Hyein..." She stole a glance at her friend who was on the other side of the shop. "It's true that she's weird sometimes but she's sweet." Hanni said to Minji.

"It's physical Hanni... Some people just can't get along. That's life." Minji shrugged.

"Minji please..." Hanni said seriously while grabbing Minji's wrist. "Hyein is one of my best friends. She's in fact the first friend I made here and she's the one that helped me with learning Korean. Can you at least try... ?"

"Well she could have teach you better because you've still got an accent.... It's cute though but still..." Minji mumbled under her breath in a petty tone.

"Huh ?"

"Huh ?"

"You just said something."

"No..."

Hanni frowned for a second but decided to just move on for this time. "Anyway, are you going to try? For me?"

Minji sighed. How could she say no when Hanni was looking at her with those puppy eyes ? "Fine... I can't promise you anything though."

"Thank you Minji !" Hanni smiled happily.

Minji couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of Hanni being all cute as she was. But her smile quickly dropped when Hyein came back towards them and put her arm around the Aussie girl's shoulder.

"Look ! I bought us matching bracelets. Isn't it so cute ?" Hyein said as she showed her shopping bag.

"Oh my god ! I want the pink one."

"Of course. And the purple one is for me." Hyein then turned towards Minji. "Sorry, I couldn't get you one. There wasn't any other color." She said, not even trying to sound convincing.

"Whatever." Minji rolled her eyes by reflex.

Hanni's gaze went from Hyein to Minji and she started to chuckle awkwardly. "Anyway... I'm so thirsty guys. Let's get something to drink." Then she crossed arms with Hyein and started to walk ahead.

"Can you stop doing that ?" She whispered to Hyein.

"Doing what ?"

"You've been an ass with Minji since this morning."

"You must be imagining things. I'm my normal self."

Minji was already annoyed by the fact that Hanni and Hyein were whispering what seemed like sweet words while walking, but her fists just automatically clenched when Hyein discreetly turned her head to stick out her tongue at her like a brat.

Minji took a deep breath. It was going to be a long day.

After ordering their drink : a strawberry milkshake for Hanni, a matcha latte for Hyein and an ice coffee for Minji, they all sat down at a table.

"I have to ask you guys for a favor." Minji suddenly said as the two others were sipping on their beverage.

"Yeah ?" Hanni said to encourage the tall girl to continue.

"So... I want to bring Haerin to Jake's party this Saturday. You know... To change her mind and relax about everything that happened lately." She started to explain. "And I wanted you guys to make sure that Danielle doesn't come. If that's possible?"

"Haerin is truly trying to move on ?" Hyein asked.

Minji nodded. "Yes. She seems sure about her decision."

"It's a shame... But I'll respect her decision." Hanni said. "I'll do my best to prevent her from coming."

"Thanks."

"No link with what we were talking about but can I taste your drink ?" Hanni asked to Minji.

"But you don't like coffee ?" Minji frowned as she nonetheless pushed her glass towards the little one.

"Who told you that ?" Hanni chuckled.

"Uhm... I must be confusing you with someone else."

While Hanni was sipping on the ice coffee, Minji gave Hyein a stare that could almost murder the poor girl. But Hyein was as surprised as Minji.

Hanni really didn't like coffee. She just asked that because she wanted to bond with her crush. She was actually doing everything she could not to shrink at the bitter taste of the drink. She didn't know that she was creating a big misunderstanding between the two Korean girls.

"Do you want to taste mine ?" Hyein asked.

"No... That shit tastes like grass." Hanni said, giving a disgusted look at the matcha.

Minji chuckled, seeing Hyein being rejected by Hanni felt like a reward.

Hyein's face immediately turned towards the athlete at the sound of her laugh . "Don't tell me you think the same way ?" She asked, totally invested in this matcha debate.

"Huh ? No, I actually like it." Minji replied mechanically.

"Thank you ! I was tired of being surrounded by tasteless people !" Hyein exclaimed, as she extended her hand to Minji. She was truly too invested in this debate...

Minji felt surprised by what seemed like Hyein's first friendly attitude towards her. She actually wanted to reject her but since she promised Hanni to make an effort, she shook the other Korean girl's hand.

Later that day, Hyein found a way to set Minji up to walk Hanni to her home by disappearing at the right moment, pretending to have a medical appointment.

Once they arrived in front of the Aussie girl's house, Minji took Hanni's hand before bidding goodbye.

"Hanni... Next time, can we see each other without Hyein ?" Minji asked timidly.

"But it seemed like you were getting along by the end of the day ?" Hanni frowned.

"Maybe. But you're the one I want to be with. Not her." Minji said quietly as she felt herself blushing lightly.

Hanni's heart fluttered at the explanation and she chuckled.

"O...Okay. I understand." She stuttered shyly.

"Really ?" Minji's face lightened up.

Hanni nodded and gathered all her courage to get on tippy toes and give the tall girl a kiss on the cheek. Then she ran away to her residency's entrance.

"See you next time !" She chuckled while waving her hand.

Minji waved back at her, a foolish smile stuck on her face.
