30.

Haerin was nervously pacing back and forth from one side of the apartment to the other. She had some missed calls from both Hyein and Hanni but none from Danielle.

At first, she thought that maybe Danielle hadn't seen the news yet even if it sounded unlikely. So she called her girlfriend multiple times but got no answer.

“Maybe she’s still knocked off from the party ?” Minji suggested, in the hope it will calm her friend down.

Haerin shook her head. “No, I have a bad feeling about this. There's no way she still doesn't know. For fucks sake why does this had to happen right when we decided to tell everything properly to her dad !?” She sighed and tried to think of what to do. “Minji, can you cover my shift at the coffee shop this morning ? I’m going to her apartment. I need to check on her.”

Minji immediately nodded. “No problem. I got this.” She put her hands firmly on Haerin’s shoulders and gave her a friendly smile. “It’s going to be alright buddy. No stress.”

Haerin nodded with a little smile. “Thanks, Minji. I'll see you later.”

After taking a shower and changing into presentable clothes, Haerin drove to Danielle's apartment. Since Danielle already gave her a double of the keys, she entered without knocking. However, she quickly noticed that the Australian girl was nowhere to be found.

She ran her fingers through her hair anxiously as she thought of something to do, slowly letting herself fall on the couch of the living room. A long sigh coming out of her mouth, she took her phone and called Mrs. Marsh.

“Hello, Haerin ?”

“Thank God.” Haerin mumbled in relief, happy that someone finally answered her calls. “Hi, Mrs Marsh. Uhm… I suppose you saw that tweet?” She said, a bit hesitant.

She called the lady without really thinking of how she was going to present the events to her.

“Yeah I saw… Who do you take me for ? I'm a really trendy woman.” Mrs. Marsh bragged, sounding completely detached from the situation almost like she was having fun because of it.

Haerin frowned at the response. Danielle's mother had a puzzling personality. “Well… I can't join Danielle since it came out. Do you perhaps know where she is ?”

“I know…” She marked a silence in which Haerin held her breath, anticipating the end of her sentence. “She’s currently at the company. Talking to her dad. She came about five minutes ago.”

Haerin pinched the bridge of her nose, she knew something was wrong. “Can you give me the address? I want to join her.”

“Danielle judged you didn't need to come, why should I give you the address ?”

“Mrs. Marsh… Please.” Haerin insisted, losing patience.

Then, she heard the woman giggle from the other side of the line and received a notification. It was the address. And without another word, Dani’s mother hung up to her face.

Haerin leaned back on the couch and sighed once again, trying to pressure down. “She was the one saying we should deal with these things together and here she is acting by herself.” She thought out loud.

On the other side, Danielle just blustered into her dad’s office. The man didn't get startled by the sudden entrance, in fact he didn't even look up from the files in his hands.

“Where's your manners ?” He simply said while Danielle stood there silently, feeling uneasy.

She came by on an impulse when she saw the leaked pictures. She didn't know if her dad already knew. His usual cold attitude didn't make it easy to know either. She hoped he didn't. She wanted to explain everything correctly to him as they'd decided with Haerin the day before.
