Xiao held your hand gently as the two of you made your way down the block towards Yelan's teahouse. He seemed much more relaxed today despite knowing he wouldn't be able to meet you right after your shift and you were glad not to see him stressing over it anymore. Your conversation the night before must have helped ease his nerves, you decided.

It was nice to see him begin to open up more to you about his feelings and past, especially considering this was the first time he'd really done so in the years you'd been together. You always knew it would happen on his own time, though.

You didn't need to direct him as the two of you headed down the sidewalk towards the small sign depicting a teacup; after all, he'd been dropping you off for work ever since you'd been hired by Yelan a few months prior.

Finally, you pushed the door open, hearing the familiar jingling of the bell as you and Xiao stepped inside. Ganyu was already working at the front counter, where she smiled and nodded towards you now. There weren't any customers present at the moment either, leaving the room feeling emptier than usual. You returned the gesture towards the icy-haired girl before turning back to your boyfriend, whose relaxed expression instantly disappeared at the idea of having to leave you now.

"Thanks for coming with me," You told him as he pulled you into a warm hug. In the back, your coworker quickly turned away out of embarrassment. With your head resting on his shoulder, Xiao sighed.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?" He asked softly, "I only get out of my lab thirty minutes later than your shift ends but I can leave early if-"

"It'll be fine." You replied with a slight chuckle as you pulled away from his embrace now. "Promise." He paused for a moment to gaze into your e/c eyes before finally giving in and nodding.

"Alright." He breathed finally as he pulled you into a sweet kiss. You smiled against his lips, forgetting for just a moment that you were still technically at your workplace.

"Pretty sure your shift starts soon, Y/n." A familiar voice teased from across the room and you finally pulled away from the kiss to see your blue haired boss coming out from the backroom.  Oops, you thought, you hadn't meant for her to see that.

Not that Yelan didn't know you and Xiao were together. She'd seen him come by the shop with you plenty of times before, after all, but something about her demeanor always seemed to shift when he was around and you couldn't seem to figure out why. Maybe she just didn't like him but didn't want to tell you?

Regardless, you turned back to the dark haired boy now with a reassuring expression. "Seriously though; I'll be fine. Ganyu and I will walk out together and stay alert like we always do."

Xiao still didn't seem convinced but as he glanced back over at Yelan, who was leaned against the counter with her arms crossed and an impatient look on her face, he knew there wasn't really time to argue about this anymore.

"Fine," he replied, "But remember; if you need me at all just-"

"Call you," You finished with a grin, remembering how he'd always promised to come running if you ever called for him, "I know; thanks for always looking out for me." The ghost of a smile made its way onto his face for a second before you pulled him into one last hug.

"I love you." He whispered into your hair so gently that you almost didn't hear it. You did, though.

"I love you too." You replied as you pulled away, "Have a good lab!" And with that you both went your separate ways as he headed back to campus and you made your way over to the back room to get your apron on.

Outside, Xiao hesitated for a moment. He'd had a bad feeling about tonight ever since you both had left the house but he knew it would only worry you if he brought it up. He had to go to his lab right now, but at the same time, if he did, he felt like something bad might happen to you. The thought stopped him from going any further as he debated what to do.
