A/n: CW for this chapter! Descriptions of car crashes (I say this as someone who was recently in a car crash and freaks out even reading about them. I am okay though don't worry)

..........

Xiao's phone buzzed loudly on the table as he scrambled to finish off the last steps of the math problem he was working on right now. He knew it was probably you calling, which made him panic slightly as he scribbled out the last few numbers.

It wasn't like there was a rule against using his phone during the lab but it was severely frowned upon. Plus, since this was the semester's final lab, the professor could take it form him and claim he'd been cheating if he picked it up right now. Not wanting to deal with a situation like that, he finished off the last of his math and then grabbed the sheet and his things as he made his way over to Beidou's desk.

His phone was still ringing in his hand and a quick glance down confirmed that you were indeed calling. The name onscreen read 'love' and was accompanied by a cute picture of you smiling brightly at the camera. He'd taken it last year when the two of you had gone on a short trip to Qingce to see the wheat fields and flowers, and you'd looked so pretty with a Glaze Lilly tucked behind your ear that he'd had to immortalize the moment. It still made him smile just thinking about that day.

"Finally done?" Beidou asked as Xiao slammed the paper on her desk a little too aggressively. He nodded, knowing he was one of only two people still left in the lab room right now. He didn't have time to chat with her though when your phone call to him was still ringing so he hurried away.

"Have a good night!" The brunette chuckled, probably guessing why he was in such a hurry.

The second Xiao got outside the room he answered the call, which happened to be on its last ring before it would have gone to voicemail. He could hear your relieved gasp as soon as he did so and fear rose higher in his chest.

"Xiao?"

"You called?" He asked hurriedly as he made his way out of the building. He had a bad feeling about this.

"Yeah, I need help." You told him as you eyed the rearview mirror of your car. The bright headlights that had been shining behind you now moved to the side as the other car pulled into the lane at your left. "I think I'm being foll-"

Before you could finish your sentence though, the car sped up so it was right next to you and then started drifting into your lane, as if trying to run you off the road. You panicked, dropping your phone so you could grab the wheel with both hands to steady the car and keep it from swerving into the woods.

Your phone fell and slid over to the passenger's side where you couldn't reach it anymore, but you could still vaguely hear Xiao's panicked voice on the other side.

"Y/n? What's going on?!" He called. You tried to stay calm as you slowed the car down, letting your pursuer move faster than you so you couldn't be run off the road by them.

"They're trying to run me off the road!" You cried as they slowed down to and swerved into your lane a little more violently this time. You had to steer more to the right and narrowly avoided hitting a tree as you avoided them.

"What?!" Xiao practically shouted, though the sound was muffled now that your phone had slid under the passenger's seat. "I need you to speak up, Y/n! Where are you?" You weren't even sure how much he was understanding of what you were saying as you just tried to focus on not letting this person get you into a car accident.

On the other end, Xiao was gripping his hair in a panic as he tried to figure out what was happening. You obviously needed him but he had no idea where you were or how to help. Should he call the police? Should he stay on the phone with you just in case, even if he couldn't really hear what you were trying to say?
