Richie didn't care for school, but he could thank it for giving him the people he cared for. His friends. Beverly Marsh, Stanley Uris, and Mike Hanlon. These are the people that kept Richie going. He never got payed attention to much at home. His dad was a wonderful man, but he was a dentist, and wasn't home too often. His mom, well she had quite the relationship with drinking, and a thought in her head that was so terrible, yet hadn't left since Richie was born. I wish I had a daughter.

Eddie Kaspbrak. It was his first day at his new school. Derry. He'd been going to a school in Bangor, which was a lot like Derry, when he was still living with his mother. Eddie was practically raised like a prisoner after his father died. His mother was one of the most insane people you could ever meet. Things got awfully bad last year. Eddie was becoming sick because of all the medicine he was getting forced down his throat. Ironic. He became so physically and mentally ill, his teachers were worried. Eventually, he got taken away from his mother. The woman to step up as Eddies caregiver was his aunt Jamie. She was much better than Sonia.

Eddie visited Derry quite often, considering he would visit his aunt quite often. He would stay with her for weeks at a time during the summer, that's where he met his only two friends. Bill Denbrough and Ben Hanscom. He stumbled across them at the park one day while walking, Ben had a bad cut and Eddie rushed over to help. That small interaction made it so Eddie wouldn't be alone when starting his school life at Derry years later.

"Room 124." Eddie muttered, looking at his schedule he had just picked up from the office. His first period was a study hall, that couldn't be too bad. He made his way to the classroom, Derry had a relatively small school, so he didn't have any trouble finding his class.

He walked in and all eyes were on him. He breathed out and waited for instruction, but the study hall monitor gave none. He assumed this meant he could sit wherever. The desks were set up in an arrangement of 2 desks pushed together. There was no desk that didn't have someone sitting in the mirroring one. He sighed and started walking, not sure who to choose to sit next to. He didn't have time to panic, because suddenly a boy spoke up, telling Eddie he could sit next to him.

-

Richie looked up at the new kid who had just walked into his study hall. He swore he felt his heart stop. This boy was gorgeous. Not like anyone Richie had ever seen before. He had short brown hair, and freckles he could make out from where he was sitting, an adorable outfit and- was that a fannypack? Richie snapped out of his trance to the sight of this boy looking for a seat nervously.

"You can sit here, if you want." Richie blurted. The boy shrugged and sat down next to Richie. He looked obviously relieved.

"Thanks." The boy said to Richie after a moment.

"No problem." Richie cleared his throat, "So, what's your name?"

"Eddie. Yours?"

"Richie. Richie Tozier."

Eddie nodded and pulled out a book from his bag to start reading, not sure of what else to do. He didn't make it through a full page before Richie was speaking again.

"Eddie, hm? That has a lot of nickname opportunities. I'm a nickname guy."

"I don't like nicknames." Eddie said blandly.

"Then you'll have to get used to them, eds." Richie smirked.

Eddie set his book down, "What?"

"Eds. Eds is your new nickname. Good one, isn't it?"

"No. That's awful. Don't call me that."

"Sorry, once you have a nickname, you can never get rid of it."

"I disagree." Eddie challenged.

"Okay Eduardo."

"Oh cmon, that's just lazy." He replied in an annoyed tone.

Richie smiled at him, and this is when he got a closer look at his face. Yeah, he was definitely cute.

"Okay spaghetti."

"Huh?" Eddie asked, confused by this one.

"Eddie spaghetti." Richie finished, grinning.

"Oh my god, stop." Eddie rolled his eyes.

Richie laughed, and Eddie returned to his book for the rest of the period. Richie wanted to keep talking to Eddie. Badly. But he also didn't want to annoy him so much that he would never talk to him again. It was weird, he didn't know this kid, but he cared so much about his opinion already.

The bell rang and Eddie quickly packed up, leaving for his next class.

"Bye, eds!" Richie called after him.

Eddie stopped and turned around, "Don't call me that." He walked back over to Richie. "Thanks again for letting me sit with you. It would've been a boring first period if I hadn't."

"No problem. The seats open tomorrow too, if you're interested." Richie smiled hopefully.

"I'll think about it." Eddie smiled, although he already knew his answer was yes.
