Eddie had been at Derry for 5 days. It was Friday. Richie was sitting in his bed on his phone, waiting for it to be time for him to drive to school. Richie was the only one of his friends who had a car, so he felt pretty special.-
Eddie walked into class and the teacher wasn't there. He made his way towards his seat next to Richie.
"Morning, eds." Richie said and gave him a sleepy smile.
"Don't call me eds."
"Richie and Eddie, come here for a second." The teacher announced. Eddie got up, nervously. Richie followed and walked up.
"Do you mind bringing these papers to the office?" She handed a stack to Richie. "And these to the library?" She handed a stack to Eddie.
And so the boys were walking down the hallways of Derry, purposely taking a long time to deliver the papers.
"You're short." Richie commented.
Eddie rolled his eyes, "And you're tall."
They continued to walk and eventually got the stacks of paper to where they belonged.
"Hey, Richie?" Eddie spoke up on the way back to the classroom.
"Hm?"
"Do you have a girlfriend?" He asked.
"Nope. Why? You interested?" He smirked.
"No! Just curious."
They returned to the classroom and Eddie tried reading his book, but Richie insisted on pestering him as usual.
By the end of class, Richie had been wanting to ask Eddie a question. He was starting to run out of time.
"Do you wanna sit with me and my friends at lunch? Your friends too, of course."
"Oh, sure. Yeah, I'll ask Bill and Ben." Eddie replied with a smile.
The bell rang.
"Cool, I'll see you later eds."
Eddie rolled his eyes, "Later, Rich."
Richie smiled to himself. Eddie said yes to sitting with him at lunch, and he called him Rich? Why was this making him feel so giddy inside? It only got worse from there.
