"Richie, I'm sorry I accused you of liking Eddie. I know it was random, we were just teasing." Bev said to Richie, sitting down on the bench she had found him at. Headphones in. He looked...sad?

"Can you talk to me?" Bev added when Richie didn't respond.

"I don't know, I just- I feel stressed out. I- I've never felt like how I feel towards Eddie. And it's weird and it's bad and it's freaking me out."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"I just- he makes me feel different. Nervous, maybe. I don't wanna mess up around him, but I want to be with him all the time. I want to know every detail of his life. I want to hold him, maybe. And maybe I've thought about kissing him too." He groaned and put his face in his hands.

Bev laughed a little, "So, you have a crush."

"Guess so."

Richie felt his phone buzz, and it was from his dad. His parents never texted him unless it was important.

'Get home now please' it read. Bev read it over Richies shoulder. "Guess I better get going, then." Richie shrugged.

Richie walked into the house, and he could tell it was tense.

"Hey, how was your day?" Wentworth asked.

"Good, thanks. Hey, mom."

Maggie looked unhappy, and unwell. Neither was unusual, but always annoying. She didn't reply.

"So, why did you need me home?"

"I need you to clean the house. It's disgusting." Maggie said. Richie resisted the urge to yell at her, considering she was the reason it was disgusting. She walked off into the living room. Richie looked at his father with a, 'seriously?' expression on his face.

"I'm sorry, kid. I would do it, but I have a meeting. She's really set on having the house clean, and it is disgusting."

"That's her fault, though! Why do we listen to her?"

"Rich- just do it please. I'm not having this conversation right now." Wentworth headed towards the door to leave for his meeting.

"And you never fucking will." Richie mumbled as he started to clean up his mothers messes.

Later that night, Richie was laying in bed, listening to music. He was about to shut his eyes when he got a message. It was Eddie.

'hey richie, how's your night been?'

It was random, but Richie of course didn't mind.

'good, eds! how's yours been?'

'boring. do you want to come over to my house tomorrow?'

Richie heart skipped a beat, he knew they were friends, but this meant they were friends outside of school, too. He almost didn't believe it.

'sure!'

'cool. text you my address tmr. night.'

Richie went to sleep with a smile on his face.
