"Xavier? Xavier, answer me." Hayden said as he snapped his fingers in front of his uncles face. Xavier hadn't moved a muscle since he'd heard the news of Elizabeth's death.

"She's dead? Liza is really dead?" He finally said, almost in a whisper. Hayden began feeling a little sorry for his uncle. Perhaps he had actually loved the witch. He opened his mouth to tell him of the prophecy, that he didn't need to be so sad. At least that was what he'd planned on doing...until he heard the words coming out of Xavier's mouth.

"Dead! All those years I've been asleep, I've had nothing to do but dream. Do you know what I dreamt about Hayden? No? Well, I'll tell you! For the past thousand years, I've dreamt about awakening and murdering that treacherous little witch. Ripping her evil head off her shoulders, and now you mean to tell me I won't even have the privilege of revenge? Aaargh!" Xavier screamed.

Somewhat amused by his uncles tone, Hayden burst out laughing. "What do you find so funny Hayden?" Xavier asked, a look of disgust evident on his face

"N-Nothing Uncle X, I just supposed t-that you were upset by Elizabeth's death because you loved her." Hayden sputtered, bursting out into a fresh wave of laughter.

"Love? I did, once upon a time. That was before she changed me into this, an immortal monster." Xavier said.

"You know, uncle X, immortality isn't such a bad thing, in fact I..." he trailed off when he saw the look his uncle was giving him. "..On second thought, forget it. Immortality is uncool, so uncool, like the uncoolest."

"We shall speak no more of this Hayden, I refuse to even think about this curse. Now, on to happier, more joyous matters, tell me about Elizabeth's death. I want to hear every single detail." He sat down quickly on the counter stool, his face lighting up at the the prospect of hearing about his former lover's death.

"Um, Uncle X I think it would be better if you just checked the archives. There's a record of everything that's happened in the past thousand years in there." Hayden took a few steps back from his uncle as he said that, he was beginning to think a thousand years of sleep had really messed with his uncle's head.

"The archives?" Xavier questioned.

"Yeah, that's where all the events of the past thousand years were recorded. It's sort of a family thing. Come on let's go, I'll explain on the way there."

Xavier got up from his stool quickly and followed Hayden through the kitchen doors.

"Great grandma Alyx started the tradition right after you were put to sleep. It's been going on for several years now, all the family members put down all the things that went on during their time. I'm just glad that you woke up now, I'll have the best records yet." He said with a smile.

By the time he was done talking, they had arrived at two huge wooden doors. "This, is the library, one of the biggest rooms in the house" said Hayden, opening the doors with a flourish. "Elizabeth was killed a thousand years ago, on the night she placed the sleeping spell on you, so you should probably look for the journal dated 1014. I'll leave you to it. If you need anything, I'll be in my room. Take two lefts and a right turn and look for the door with the most skulls on it. Happy reading" Hayden said with a small grin, shutting the doors behind him.

Five hours later, Xavier got up from his semi-comfortable sitting position. He had only just finished reading the journal for the year 1014. It felt good reading his sister's words, it was almost like she was there with him. He missed Alyx more than he could say. Being twins, they had always had a special bond and he was sad he would never feel such again.

"Well, at least she left family members." He said out loud. Speaking of which....where was that rascal Hayden? Stepping out of the library, he tried to remember the directions he had been given. Two lefts, a right, and something about skulls. He wondered what skulls had to do with directions. "Meh, the boy must not be right in the head." He followed the directions, going around two left corners and finally a right one. He saw a black door thoroughly covered from top to bottom with white skull heads and crossbones.

"What in the world is wrong with that child?" Xavier said out loud. Knocking twice, he waited for his nephew to invite him in before stepping into the room.

"Hey X, I see you're done with the books."

"Yes, I am, much thanks for letting me read them." he said stiffly.

Hayden chuckled to himself for a few seconds, 'Why was the boy always laughing?' Xavier thought to himself, somewhat annoyed. Of course he couldn't say it out loud, his mother had always stressed about the importance of manners. "Also, I would like to apologise for my rudeness earlier today, it was abominable of me to treat you as I would a servant, especially as you are my next of kin."

"No worries X, your behaviour was somewhat expected. Now, no more looking into the past, we must forever face the future and the challenges it brings and all that jazz." He chuckled once more. Again with the laughing, what was so damned funny?

He got his answer straight away, "Uncle X, you act way too stiff, there's no way you'll ever fit in with your current attitude. What I'm trying to say is.....you, my friend are getting a makeover."
