If I get good response in the story I'll be uploading my upcoming stories here and won't take out ....

"Jaime, are you certain this is the correct route? It feels like we've been driving for an eternity. It shouldn't have taken this long to reach the cabin; we should have arrived or at least been close by now," inquired Jaime's girlfriend, seated in the passenger seat.

I didn't know her name, since she wasn't from our college. The only reason I knew she was his girlfriend is because I had seen her on campus, passionately kissing him without a care in the world.

Returning to her question, I couldn't help but concur. We were supposed to be on our way to the cabin, but it felt like we had taken a wrong turn.

"Don't worry, we're on the right path," Jaime reassured his girlfriend.

Seconds later, seemingly out of nowhere, the van sputtered and the engine let out a mournful sigh as it died down. The van's previously muted engine fell silent, and the air grew eerily calm, devoid of even a hint of a breeze.

"Why did you stop the car?" Frank asked.

Ignoring Frank's inquiry, Jaime attempted to restart the car, but the key simply turned on the ignition without success as the engine remained silent. Jaime checked the fuel gauge and let out a frustrated sigh.

"We've run out of fuel."

"What the heck," Frank cursed, clearly irate at what he'd just heard.

"So now what? Are we stuck here?" Colten asked, but he received no response.

I gazed out of the car window and into the distance. All I could see was barren land, with nothing but sand, rocks, and an unrelenting horizon in every direction.

I reached for my cellphone to call for help. Glancing at my phone, I frowned at the lack of signal bars. I looked at Kelly, and her brow furrowed just like mine as she stared at her phone. It was safe to assume she had no network either.

Great, now we were stranded in the middle of nowhere, in a vast, desolate area, far from any signs of civilization. I could already tell that there was no quick fix for our situation, and it was going to take a while.

As I reclined in the backseat, I closed my eyes, feeling a sense of hopelessness. My hand shielded my eyes from the scorching, shimmering heat waves.

"I'll try to call someone for help," Nicole said.

I almost wanted to laugh, already knowing what she would say. "There's no signal," she confirmed.

"What are we going to do? We're in the middle of nowhere with no cell signal!" Jaime's girlfriend exclaimed.

We had planned to spend four nights and three days at Jaime's farmhouse, but it seemed like we might be stuck in this van for four nights and three days.

"Relax, I have a bit of fuel left to cover some distance. I'm sure we'll find a gas station along the way," Jaime interjected, bringing a glimmer of hope.

I hoped we'd find a gas station soon, just as Jaime had said.

"I don't like this, guys. It's too quiet, and it feels like we're being watched. This place is giving me the creeps." Janet says, and after a very long time I actually agree with her.

Fortunately, we stumble upon a gas station, though it appears to be straight out of the 19th century.

"Look, Faith, there's a shop too. Let's grab something to eat. I'm starving," Kelly suggests.
