Mrs. Jung?, Hyejin heard Wheein call Hanmi. She was sitting in the backseat, just like how she always did back when Wheein was her body guard. She swallowed upon the realization that she would have to endure through listening to Wheein's conversation with her wife. She silently prayed that the talk will be over quickly.

Hey, love,Hanmi replied to Wheein. The call had been put on speaker, something which Hyejin didn't know if it was intentional or not.

Are you safe?, Wheein asked, which made Hyejin look down. She wished that Wheein would ask her the same.

Of course, love. How about you?, Hanmi questioned in response.

I was out of the office earlier, but I'm on my way back,
Wheein answered, glancing at Hyejin for a second.

Right. I'll be home tomorrow, love. What do you want to see?”, Hanmi queried, her voice suddenly turning sweeter than honey.

Red, Wheein responded, catching a glimpse of Hyejin's eyes in the rear view mirror before she looked away.

I'll see you home then, love. Bye.

Sure,” Wheein muttered shortly before Hanmi hung up. She set her phone aside and focused on the road. She stole another peek at Hyejin and urged herself to keep her eyes ahead of her.

Hyejin was quiet through the entire ride. She did not say a single word. Her throat was dry. She was unable to find her voice and the right words, and she was still shivering from earlier. Should she be grateful that she was alive? Should she thank Wheein for saving her life? She was in deep doubt.

Wheein had given Hyejin a chance to live, to live with the fact that Wheein was not hers and wanted to make her existence pure hell. Hearing Wheein talk to Hanmi so casually was enough to make Hyejin's veins burn with jealousy, but she chose to stay still. She had no right to be jealous.

Wheein stopped the car as soon as the gates to the Ahn mansion came in to view in front of her. She turned her head and saw Hyejin whose hair was still wet, sea water trickling down to the floor of the car.

Wheein got off and opened the car for Hyejin. She cursed silently as she did, knowing that it was a force of habit, a gesture she didn't do out of courtesy or will.

Hyejin tried to step out of the car but struggled with her wobbly legs. She would have kissed the ground if Wheein hadn't moved quickly on her feet and caught her with her arms.

Gulp.

Hyejin wasn't so sure about how to react to the situation. She's been a part of this scene more than once, but she could not feel the deja vu. The person who was holding her and keeping her from falling was a stranger. She hesitantly met Wheein's cold gaze.

Wheein averted her eyes. She let Hyejin stand sturdily and took back her hand when she confirmed that Hyejin could now stand on her own.

All of a sudden, strong hands abruptly grabbed Wheein by the collar and turned her around.

Get your fucking hands off of her!

Wheein's eyes widened as the weight of a fist landed on her face. Her head jerked to the right on impact. She looked at the owner of the furious voice and the hand that punched her. She instantly recognized Moon Byul-i.

Moon Byul glared at Wheein with clenched fists. She was seething with anger, enraged when she saw Wheein touching Hyejin.

Wheein was not an idiot to not punch back. She curled her hand into a fist and gave Moon Byul a right jab.
