this one is cute i like it

Although it was only 7:30, I was already impatiently glancing at the door every minute to see if Billie was walking through.

Fifteen minutes later, however, I was told to focus by Leah when I fucked up someone's drink. Burning with shame and embarrassment, I concentrated on my task and held back the tears of anger directed at myself.

"Hey," Leah tapped my shoulder, handing me an order slip.

"Your girlfriend said she wants you to make it for her. Just you, she wouldn't have anyone else do it," A teasing glint sparked in her eyes as she jerked her thumb to the other side of the café, where Billie was sat at a table, her bright red roots easily spotted.

"She's not my girlfriend," I insisted half-heartedly, a faint smile on my lips.

"Yet," Leah countered. "Alright, you get to work and then go on home, worker bee. Feel free to snag a pastry on your way out," She patted my shoulder, then left me to go do manager things.

I shook my head lightly, then focused on the order slip, seeing it was Billie's usual vegan peppermint mocha that she always got. She always complimented me on how well I made it, and that she'd been getting this for years, but it was never as good as when I made it. Even thinking about her sweet comments made me feel warm inside.

I was getting faster at making it now, and so I was able to hang up my apron five minutes early. I happily grabbed a chocolate croissant, even though I knew I was only allowed to take it because it was getting stale, then trotted over to Billie's table.

"Hi Billie," I piped up, waiting for her to look up from her phone. She did so, a wide smile taking over her expression.

"Hey baby," She hugged me. I would've hugged back, except I was holding her drink in one hand and my croissant in the other, so I kinda just stood there awkwardly.

I handed her her drink. Her eyes lit up, and she instantly took a big slurp.

"Mm. So fucking good," She sighed, watching me with hooded eyes. My smile widened, and I looked down shyly.

"C'mon, let's get you home," She held out her hand for me. I was surprised at first, but then took it and her warm hand settled over mine, butterflies going haywire in my stomach as we walked, hand in hand, to her car.

"Thanks for picking me up, Billie," I said bashfully once we were settled in her car.

"Of course, Willow," She glanced at me, smiling, then diverted her attention to pulling out of the parking stall.

I turned my face to hide my own giddy smile.

"So, I was thinking," Billie announced as she navigated the way to my apartment. "My parents want to leave at 10am tomorrow. So, if I, say, slept over at your place or something, as long as I woke up decently early there'd be plenty of time," She not-so-subtly hinted.

I giggled, then quickly slapped a hand over my face embarrassed.

"That was cute," Billie added, looking over at me while we were at a red light.

My cheeks turned the same colour as the light, and I quickly stammered out, "Y-yeah, you can sleep over. I don't work tomorrow,"

Billie gasped excitedly. "You want me to sleep over? Oh my goodness, of course I will!" She placed her hand over her heart.

I shook my head at her drama. "You're so goofy," I muttered.

Billie laughed. "You love it,"

I do. I said nothing.

When we reach my apartment building, it turns out Billie had already been counting on staying over because she had an overnight bag packed. I just smiled and tilted my head at her while she pulled it out of the trunk of her car, a barely suppressed grin on her face.

I used my key to get in and went to the elevator. It was already at this floor and waiting open, so I stepped in and waited for Billie to get in before I pressed my floor number.

While we went up, a heavy yawn escaped my mouth. Billie chuckled at me, using her free hand to sweep the hair covering my cheek behind my ear.

"Someone's getting sleepy, hm?" She teased. I blushed and looked down, the hair falling from my ear to cover my face again.

Upon exiting the elevator, I fell in step in front of Billie, even though I knew she already knew the way to my apartment. It just felt natural.

I yawned again as I opened the door. Billie laughed again.

"You hungry?" I asked as I made my way to the fridge, opening it and grabbing bread, cheese, and cucumbers.

"Nah, I ate just before I came to get you. Baby, you look like you're gonna fall asleep; why don't you go get ready for bed and I'll do this, okay?" She offered, taking the ingredients from me.

"It's okay, I got it," I insisted, reaching for them. Billie swatted my hands away.

"Willow, just go change," She urged, finding my one single pan and placing it on the stove.

I sighed but obeyed.

When I came back, a delicious grilled cheese with sliced cucumbers on the side was waiting for me. Billie slipped past me into my bedroom to get settled in, while I sat in my chair and gobbled down my food.

"Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anyone eat so fast," Billie teased when she came back, less than five minutes later, and every last crumb on my plate was gone.

I shrugged, placing my plate in the sink cuz I was too sleepy to wash it right now.

"Um, do you just wanna sleep in my bed with me, I guess?" I asked awkwardly, realizing I didn't really have anywhere else for another person to sleep.

"Oh, I would love to," Billie assured me, flashing me a smirk. I blushed and led the way into my bedroom.

I grabbed my laptop so we could watch something, then hopped in the bed and relaxed against the pillows. I patted the space beside me for Billie to come and lay with me.

To my surprise, once she had climbed in she immediately pulled me to lay on her chest. Thankful she couldn't see my face, I unlocked my laptop and opened Netflix, letting her pick what we watched.

I exhaled and closed my eyes once it was on, exhaustion washing over me, its effect doubled since it was couple with the warmth of Billie's body beneath me.
