Darryl and Morgan walk through entrance to the ruins, stopping as they come across a lone patch of grass, a lone and brightly coloured yellow flower laying upon it.
Before Morgan could go to approach and pluck the flower from the grasp of the ground, they are stopped by a hand on their shoulder and a head shake from Darryl, telling them not to.
Morgan stares at him in confusion before the two of them are abruptly jumpscared by the high-pitched voiced of a certain flower saying.
"Howdy!" Is the only thing it gets to say before getting interrupted by the two humans screaming.
"WEIRD FLOWER!!" They scream, Darryl pointing an accusatory finger at him while Morgan quickly moves to get behind him.
A wave of silence washes over them, and even the flower makes a move to speak.
Then, the ice is broken by Morgan semi-whispering, "I'm gonna pluck it," while making quick grabby hands at the flower.
Despite this claim, they do not make any move towards the flower as the flower let's out a confused noise before saying, "You aren't who I was supposed to meet....?"
"Well, of course, we aren't frisk, assuming that's who you're referring to." Morgan replies, no longer making grabby hands at the confused plant.
The mention of Frisk confused the flower even more. How did this human know of them? Where even was frisk???
The flower takes a deep breath before replying, "Oh well, it's the same either way." They say before funky and joyful music fills the surrounding area, their confused face being replaced by a more innocent one, "My names flowey! Flowey the flower!" They began before being interrupted once again.
"Oh, we already know that," Morgan says.
Flowey becomes even more confused by this statement, but he doesn't get too long to think about it before getting slammed in the face by a hard- hitting fireball attack which sends him out of bounds and out of sight.
Upon seeing the fireball, the two humans are greeted by a kind looking goat monster, who doesn't get to introduce themself properly before Morgan and Darryl start to chant "goat mom" over and over again.
The title of "mom" amuses the goat monster, and she doesn't make any move to stop the chanting. Instead, she motions for them to follow as she leads them towards another 'doorway'.
They both stop chanting, the silence giving the monster the opportunity to introduce herself as they walk through the ruins.
"My name is toriel," she says, not looking back at the two humans.
Upon walking through the doorway, the group comes across two sets of stairs, toriel walking up the stairs and through the next doorway as Darryl and Morgan stare at the space between the two stairs, their faces laced with confusion, almost as of they expected something to be there.
They both look at each other, Morgan shrugging before going up one of the sets of stairs, walking through the doorway with Darryl following shortly behind.
Upon entering the next room, they are welcomed by toriel as she comments on how this is their new home. Despite them both knowing how untrue that was, they made no move to correct her as she continued, talking about how she would educate them in "the operation of the ruins" before moving to step on four buttons sticking out of the ground, making sure to avoid the ones of the lighter coloured flooring before pulling on a lever, opening the previously closed door behind her.
"The ruins are full of puzzles" she says, going on about how one would need to solve these to properly get through the ruins before walking through the now opened door, the two humans following shortly behind.
"To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches," she explains as they enter the room, "do not worry, I have labelled them."
Morgan mumbles a sarcastic thanks for the labels as they all continue on, stepping over the bridge and coming across a twitch and another bridge. Darryl and Morgan glance between toriel and the switch before both of them begin to run towards the switch, fighting over who got to pull it after they got there.
Toriel feels quite awkward watching the two of them squabble, though it did make her think of whether or not the two of them were related in any way.
Eventually, the lever is pulled, and they move onto the next one, this time, Morgan just let's Darryl pull the lever, no longer having the energy to fight over it.
After the second lever is pulled, the spikes behind toriel seem to vanish into the ground, leaving a clear path for them to walk across.
Once again, they are led into another room. The only thing inside is a line dummy.
Toriel explains that as they are both humans, monsters in the underground may attack them.
"That's kinda speciesist," Morgan whispers to Darryl as the goat monster continues.
She explains that because of this, they would need to prepare themselves for it. She also explains that they do not need to worry if they do get attacked, as the process is quite simple, "when you encounter a monster, you will enter a fight" she says, "while you are in a fight, strike up a friendly conversation. Stall for time, and I will come to resolve the conflict."
This piece of dialogue makes Morgan think, was the game hinting to toriel wanting the human to stay in the ruins? Because otherwise, how would she come to resolve the conflict if they're outside of the ruins?
Their train of thought is strictly cut short as toriel continues, snapping them back to reality as she asks the two of them to practice on the previously mentioned dummy.
Morgan and Darryl approach the dummy, entering a fight with it as the world around them dissolves into darkness, their souls being practically ripped out of their body as the buttons "fight", "act", "mercy" and "item" appear infront of them. Almost immediately, Darryl moves towards the act button, clicking on it before choosing to mock both the dummy and the situation at hand.
"Oh no!!" He says in a mocking tone, causing Morgan to let out a few giggles, "a scary dummy! Whatever will we do?".
The dummy does not respond, remaining as a still and silent object as Morgan begins to laugh, joining Darryl in the mocking.
"It's so scary and so strong! How ever will we defeat it!" She laughs before moving to press the mercy button, Darryl making no move to stop her.
The dummy is spared, awarding the two of them nothing.
The fight scene evaporates, panning out towards toriel, a confused look upon her face in response to the mocking. She doesn't know how to respond to this behaviour, so she just motions for the two of them to follow her before walking into the next room.
Watching the scene from above, Frisk and their ghost pal, chara are watching the scene, also very confused by the behaviour of the two players. This isn't what they expected to happen -
Toriel, Morgan, and Darryl walk into the next room, a strange path drawn on the floor in a darker colour than the rest of the room.
Toriel mentions how this room is also a puzzle room before leading the two of them down the wide hall into another, thinner Hall. They all walk single-file down the hall before the two humans are sent into a sudden battle with a froggit, before they could do anything, toriel interrupts them, stopping the fight and leaving them with 0 gold and 0 xp.
After that short encounter, they continue to walk down the hall, coming across another puzzle room. There was a medium-sized platform with water surrounding it, spikes stuck up out of the ground, threatening to cut or stab anyone who came near.
Toriel turns back towards the two of them, asking for their hand.
As Morgan goes to grab her hand, Darryl casually says, "I have a better idea" before approaching the water.
"I'll meet you there," he says before jumping in and swimming to the other end of the room.
Morgan, not wanting to get her clothes wet, decides to stay with toriel on this one.
This action by Darryl surprises toriel, but she quickly snaps out of it and begins to lead Morgan across the spikes.
By the time they had gotten to the end of the room, Darryl had already arrived, currently leaning on one of the many pillars.
As soon as they get there, Darryl begins to complain about being 'soggy', specifically about having 'soggy socks'.
Morgan mentally teases him about it as toriel lets go of her hand, beginning to speak.
"You have done excellently thus far, my children," she says, smiling down at the two of them," however... I have a difficult request to ask you."
The two of them stay silent for a moment, waiting for her to continue before Darryl decides to motion for her to carry on.
"I would like you to walk to the end of this room by yourself" she explains, "forgive me for this" as she finishes her sentence, she begins to run away, music playing in the background as Darryl and Morgan just sorta, stand there, watching her run to the end of the room before hiding behind a pillar.
They stay silent for a moment before Morgan challenges," I bet I can get to the end of the hall before you!".
Before she can even finish her sentence, Darryl is off, running at almost full speeds towards the end of the room.
Stuttering with her words, she yells out a "cheater!" Before running after him.
The two of them quickly make it to the end of the hall, Morgan complaining about how unfair it was because he started before her.
She gets so caught up in the challenge that she fails to remember the reason they were running in the first place, causing her to get jumpscared as toriel comes out of her hiding place.
Darryl laughs at her reaction, toriel being slightly concerned by it.
Morgan is left slightly embarrassed, thanking the Lord as her reaction was brushed past by toriel announcing that she must attend to some business before handing Darryl a phone.
Morgan attempts to look at it, but her face is promptly shoved away by his hand.
Smiling at this sibling interaction, toriel requests that the two of them remain in this room before strolling out of the room, the sounds of Morgan and Darryl protesting against this, claiming that she was 'abandoning them' and that this was 'child endangerment', slowly begin to fade into the background the further she went, leaving the two of them to their own devices.
