Kyle got to Stan and Wendy home thirty minutes early, he always preferred being early. "Uncle Kyle"! Tyler their 4 year old son ran up to him, and Kyle grabs and picks him. "Hey buddy!" Tyler is Wendy and Stan son he delays in learning and development. He was sweet kid and favored Stan so much. He loved their family and was happy for them but he would be lying if he didn't admit he was jealous. He wanted the same a family, a partner to go through life with him. "Daddy going to take me to baseball" Tyler says in a cute lisp voice. "Woah exciting you going to catch the ball", Kyle asked back. "Yeah!" He answered excitedly. "Alright buddy time for you to go to grandma and grandpa house" Stan said gently picking up his son. "Ok let's go!" Stan gets Tyler bags and take them and him to the car, his parents are five minutes away so it's no time lost. Wendy and Kyle are alone "so Kyle how has everything been going since you know" she asked quietly. It no secret Vicki and Wendy had issues with each other, he'll every woman in this town did. Vicki lived for drama and chaos. When the divorce happened Wendy felt guilty she was the one that exposed Vicki to me. Usually I would be grateful but how it happened was humiliating for me. It's not Wendy's fault I never blamed her but I can't shake that day. "It's been going" I replied truthfully. "I still sorry about how it happened", she said. "Hey it's in the past and I know now so it's ok" I said. "Well my friend I hope you like her I know you are a great guy she very sensitive so please be gentle with her she got out of a bad divorce as well. She rarely leaves her home" she said. "How do you know her" I asked? "She works with special needs and gives amazing advice and helps set up assessments and therapy with parents and clinics. It hard as a parent to navigate through these challenges and she an amazing middle man to take off the stress." "So she does it from home?" I asked confused. "Yes but she does come out from time to time and visits the kids she helps. Tyler loves her and she helped him improve so much and us. As parents the biggest challenge you could ever do is admit you need help with your kids that you don't what to do." "She sounds nice" I said "she a fragile person we made somewhat of a friendship. I hate she hides herself away in her house all the time. She has so much to offer the world" She said sadly. "Wendy are you setting me up from guilt", I ask bluntly. "No! She really kind and I thought you would be interested it's no hard feelings if it doesn't work out" she said.  Just then Stan is back "sorry guys you know my parents love to talk" he said. Just then a knock at the door. Wendy opens the door "Kaye hey how are you"? A shy short woman walks in she mumbles fine but her head is down like she doesn't want to look at anyone. She wore a cute pink simple dress and halo braid in her hair and pink flats with white flowers on them. "Thank you for inviting me" she said quietly she seems uncomfortable. "Well this is Kyle and Kyle this is Kaye" Wendy introduced us. "Hi how are you" she said in a quiet voice and held her hand out it was smooth and delicate but limp. "Nice to meet you too" I replied and shook her hand back. "His hand is big and strong and firm" Kaye thought to herself. She also noticed his height he had to be in 6' and above range. She started to feel self conscious she doesn't know why he made her feel low self esteem. "Is she shaking, she seems nervous. If she was forced here this will be uncomfortable for her" Kyle thought. "Hey dinner will be ready in a minute Stan come help me in the kitchen" Wendy said. It was obvious what they were doing. Kyle feeling awkward "ahem so you work with special needs children that's amazing" he said hoping it would ease her. "Yes it means a lot to me I dedicated my life to it" she responded. "That's amazing it's not easy work I'm sure" I said. "It's rewarding watching their progress before your eyes." Awkward silence again. "You're in the military I think Wendy said" "yeah going on 15 years. I done a lot I'm proud of", Kyle responded. "That nice I grew up in a Army town" "oh you're not from here." "No I'm originally from Georgia" "I thought you had a southern drawl" Kyle said but immediately regretted when he saw her reacted by hiding her face more. "I mean hey I'm from this hick town so you know.." Kyle lost for words, damn he was bad at this. "Dinner is ready" Wendy said. Kyle let Kate go first to the kitchen and he pulled her chair out. She said thank you but was shocked he doesn't know her so why would he do that? Almost like he read her mind "it's the gentleman thing to do". "Thank you"
