Kyle and Kay have been going steady for 3 months and everyone was happy Kyle found someone else. They seem to balance each other well. He more strong and help stand up when she quiet and shy. Kyle loves doing acts of love for her. He felt so different with her he felt whole, appreciated, loved. He looked forward to seeing her and being with her. Saturday he was lying with her and got a text. "Hey can I speak to you" he read. It was from Vicki's father Mr Loins. "Sir of course." "Meet me at the coffee shop in ten". Vicki father also served and had high honors, they spoke to each other man to man. He left Kay sleeping and sent her a text that he stepped out. He got dress and met up with him. He saw him sitting he was punctual by being early. "Sir how are you"? Kyle stood up straight shook his hand, Mr Loins stood up and did the same "I been better son". He sat down "It been a while sir" Kyle spoke. "Yeah it has been". A waitress came and ask their orders both ordered a mug of black coffee. Awkward silence "Kyle I'm sorry about Vicki". "It's not your fault sir". "I feel awful and responsible. I raised her to be a honorable person. I don't know where I went wrong" he said with his head down and sighed. "You can only do so much you tried your best". "When I heard what she did to you I was sick to my stomach. You're a good man, you would be a great husband and father but she got with this bum. He ruined her life." The waiter came with their coffee. Kyle took a sip and so did Mr Loins. "She a mess Kyle, he got her hooked on drugs, bouncing from our home to the streets. Her mother empty her bank account trying to help and save her. I been using my retirement fund that was saved for us to live a good life to pay bills because we gave so much". Kyle felt pity on the old man imagining working your whole life and your kid ruins it being an idiot. "I'm so sorry, I wish things were better I wanted to save her but it didn't work out". "Eh it's not your fault, I blame her mother and myself. Her mother spoiled her and coddled her, never allowed me to punish her. I argued but I gave in to my wife I should have stood up and been stronger as the husband and father" he said. Kyle admitted she was spoiled she wanted more and more all the time. When she couldn't get her way she threw child like temper tantrums. She expected to be pampered all the time and if he couldn't he was the "worst husband". It doesn't help that she an only child and expected everything all the time. Kyle didn't know what to say "sir I respect you I really do. I'm sorry about Vicki I hope she finds the light one day". "I know you have another lady" he says. Curse living in a small town where everyone knows everyone business. "Yeah I have met someone new". "I know you will be good to her. I'm happy for you son". He says standing up playing for their coffee. "Sir allow me.." he held up his hand "I invited you out and it's all I can do for what happened. Take care of your new lady". "Thank you sir". Vicki father saluted him and walk out the store. Kyle returned the salute and watch him leave. He actually liked his ex father in law a lot they had so much in common but his daughter ruined it. He didn't care for his mother in law at all she refused to believe anything bad about her "angel". She would meddle in their arguments and of course siding with Vicki, which in some fairness Vicki would lie and tell a different story. She was an enabler and probably will be to Vicki demise and theirs if she gave up all of their financial security to save her. Yes his parents were loving but he appreciated their discipline and strictness. As a kid he didn't appreciate it and hated them at the time but as an adult who dealt with others who obviously had no structure or discipline in their lives he understood why it's so important. In the service he has worked with and trained so many others and imagined a bunch of Cartman running around. Arrogant, spoiled, manipulative and think they're the main character, he hated people like that. They get themselves and others killed, which unfortunately he been through and seen. He drove back to Kay home. He walked in as she gave him a key. Kay was visibly upset in bed, "where did you go" she said in a small voice. "I just went out to talk to Vicki father". "Oh" she said sadly. "Hey what wrong? I didn't mean to upset you". "I'm not upset" she said curled up in a ball covering her face. "You are upset you don't have to lie". "Do you want her back"? "What? Hell no" "You visited her father" "he was apologetic about his daughter and she doing bad. She on drugs and homeless." "Oh are you going to save her"? "Hey let's talk, I'm not going to cheat and hurt you I promise it to you and the moon" he said. "Sorry.." "don't apologize I want you to talk to me ok"? "Yeah" "besides I love you". "You love me?" Kyle realized he said but he didn't take it back "yes I do love you". "I love you too" she said back. Kyle grabbed her face and gave her a passionate kiss. "I will choose you every day"
