Tears

Y/Ns POV
I wake up with a cold space beside me where Lizzie was as I'd fallen asleep on her. I grumbled unhappily to myself and sat up.

Remembering what happened last night I let my head fall into my hands. How embarrassing.

Hearing footsteps nearing my door I sit up just as Robbie knocks before he pokes his head in.
"Hey kid. How you feeling?", he asked, a trace of worry on his face.
"Better. Sorry about last night-", I started to apologise but he cut me off.

"You don't have to be. They happen, there's more chocolate in the draw under the pantry if you need it", he winked, then left, gently shutting the door behind him.

I was going to get up and changed but there was another knock and this time it was Lizzie who looked in and smiled at me.

"Morning love"
"Morning Liz", I stand up and half-run to her with my arms outstretched. I hear a little 'aww' from her as she hugs me tight.

"Sleep okay?", she asks me, her voice soft.
"Mhm", I nod. "You didn't stay".

After I said that I immediately felt bad as her face fell. "I'm sorry, love I didn't want to wake you up throughout the night. I can stay next time though, I just didn't want to keep you up".

"You were the reason I actually got to sleep", I tell her truthfully, and she smiled happily at me.
"There's breakfast in the kitchen, Robbie made pancakes".
"Yesss"
"And we have to head back to set today", she adds, and I let out a sigh of disappointment. "I know, love. But I'm sure you'll be back".

"I like it here. It's homely". I can tell that Lizzie felt so proud when I said that. A smug little smile came over her and she nodded for a moment.

"And so it should. You're family", she said, rubbing my shoulder, and my heart just melted. I rested my head on her and she kissed the top of it. Suddenly we hear Robbies voice from the kitchen.

"Girls! Whipped cream, yay or nay?". We laugh and Lizzie lets go of me so I shoot down the hallway calling 'yes'.

After a delicious breakfast (Robbie is such a housewife), Lizzie started to pack up her bags. I packed everything of mine up in about 10 minutes, so afterwards I roamed down to Lizzie and Robbies room.

Robbie was still in the kitchen so it was just me and her, which was perfect for stretching out on the bed and helping in no way whatsoever.

As I lounged, Lizzie turned to me with a playful grin. "You planning on just watching me love, or are you going to lend a hand?" she teased.

I sat up, pretending to be shocked. "Oh, I'm definitely helping. Just... in a supervisory role, you know?" I said with a mischievous glint in my eye.

She rolled her eyes but laughed, throwing a pillow my way. "Supervisor, huh? Well, make yourself useful, Supervisor.".

I rolled my eyes at her but helped anyway, sitting cross-legged on her bed and packing everything she handed me into a suitcase.

As I crammed the last sweatshirt in, the bag wouldn't close. I sat on top of it and tried to force the zip shut but it wouldn't budge. Eventually I just gave up and yanked it out all together, putting it on myself.

The suitcase closed and I looked up proudly, only to see Lizzie holding in her laughter.
"What?", I ask her as she sits down on the bed beside me.

She just shakes her head with a smile. "Nothing".
"Come on, spill it. What's so amusing?"

Lizzie chuckles, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "It's just that you have a unique approach to packing, that's all."

"For that statement I find myself begging your pardon", I raised my eyebrows and she just laughed to herself, falling backwards on the bed.

"It's nice having you around Y/n, you bring a certain...flair to the ordinary".
"I'll take that as a compliment".

She reaches up her arms behind me and grabs my shoulders, pulling me down with her. My head falls onto her shoulder and I just let myself stay there.

"We should probably get on the road", Lizzie says with a sigh.
"But it's so nice here", I frown and Lizzie runs her fingers through my hair, a soothing gesture that makes me wish I could stay in this moment forever. But reality calls, and Lizzie's right – we need to get back on the road. Reluctantly, I sit up, disentangling myself.

"Come on, love, we'll be back before you know it," Lizzie reassures me, a comforting smile on her face.

With a sigh, I stand up and start gathering the last few items into the suitcase. As I move around the room, folding clothes and zipping up bags, Lizzie watches me with a thoughtful expression.

"You know, Y/n, you're always welcome here," she says softly. "And if you ever need a break from everything, you've got a place with us."

Her words hit me in a way I hadn't expected. I wanted to believe her but I know for a fact that when I go back home my parents wouldn't even consider letting me come here.

"I wish I could," I admit, my voice carrying the weight of my hesitation.

Lizzie stands up and walks over, cupping my face in her hands. "Hey baby. You're gonna be okay", her green eyes look into mine and I almost cried. She seemed to sense this and pulled me into a tight hug. "I've got you love, I promise you'll be safe".

"Jesus woman bringing me to tears", I joked, leaning back to wipe my eyes, but she grabbed my hand with hers and wiped them for me with her thumb.

"Ice-cream on the way?", she asked me with a glint in her eyes.
"Of course".
