Courtland Adams

Golden rays flowed into the room dusting the length of jet black walls and silk sheets married to a large king sized bed. Limbs tangled together, warm breath carefully brushing against exposed skin.

"When were you gonna tell me?" A croaky voice creased the silence as the man slowly turned around in the thick arms that were holding him.

"I know you not sleepin', Court." He groaned leaning up until his chin was resting on Courtland right pec looking up at the man.

After a moment of pure silence Courtland opened his eyes briefly glancing down to meet the eyes he'd found himself liking so much.

Even if the man annoyed him beyond words there was simply something about his charismatic smile and cheerful personality.

"Greg, too early to get into that. Aren't you tired?" Courtland deep voice coated with sleep made Greg's pulse quicken and his eyes roll.

Moving from his position Greg sat all the way up, a sleep infused frown in his bright face.

"Don't start." Court sighed, flexing his jaw for a second before reaching his hand up to grab ahold of Greg's jaw.

Keeping his grip rather slack Courtland pulled Greg down his level only a breath away from their lips touching.

"I'm not fighting with you today. We agreed last night to leave it." Court stared into Greg's deep brown eyes with a blank expression, he didn't see how this situation should have elevated to what it had.

Being in contact with Daeshawn shouldn't have been something he needed to run by Greg. It wasn't like they had resumed business where it left off.

"We ain't agree to shit, you fucked me to sleep." Greg eyebrows furrowed deeply as his lip start to curl up with annoyance. Courtland always did this.

Reaching his own hands up Greg pried his face from Court's grip, getting up from the bed he quickly began to gather his clothes that Courtland so carefully took off him.

Without saying a word Court watched the boy he dared to love walk around with a frown and his belongings thrown underneath his arm.

Walking out of larger man's room in a hurry Greg felt himself becoming more emotional, he couldn't believe he let himself believe Courtland words would finally match his actions. Just another act of wishful thinking.

Rolling out of his bed Courtland slipped in a pair of baller shorts and slowly followed behind Greg's trail of destruction into the living room.

Locs cascading down his built body and touching by the middle of his chest Courtland walked over to where Greg finally planted himself into the couch head buried into the arm of the couch shielding Court from the view of his face.

"Baby boy, listen to me. I'm not keeping things from you in order to hurt you I'm-" Courtland began but was cut off when Greg looked up with a tear stained face.

"You're trying to protect me I fuckin' know that's yo excuse for everything! When are you gon fuckin' realize I don't need you protectin' me I'm a grown ass man I can handle shit too. I'm not some damsel 'n distress you have to keep savin'. Youn even care about that fact-" Courtland's expression slowly but surely twisted into something dark.

His hand reached out once wrapped itself around Greg's throat effectively cutting him off and making his eyes widen a bit.

"You have no idea just how much I care for you, for your friends. I keep things for you for the sake of your happiness, you have no idea the things I've seen the things I've done. I don't want that for you. Because I care for you. If I could take you out of the game all together I would. I would." Courtland's jaw clenched as he flicked between Greg's eyes.

"I just wanna be here for you." Greg sniffled letting a few tears drop down his cheeks. Courtland sighed loosening his grip before carefully wiping his tears with his thumb.

"Thank you for wanting that, I'm doing this to keep you safe, let me." Greg glanced away before find Courtland before again, after a moment they both leaned in connecting their lips.

Gregs hands carefully cradling Courtland head while the larger man dropped his hands to hold onto Greg's waist.

Pulling away with only their forehead touching Courtland left a single peck on Greg's nose.

"Can we go back ta sleep? I wanna try wakin' to you again." Greg whispered making a small almost not there smile kiss the corner of Courtland mouth.

"Yea, come on."

The smell to chemicals made Courtland's nose burn and his head feel light, back at his warehouse he was going through a thick pile of paperwork like he would any other days

With plans of his new shipment coming in a days Courtland had little no room for error which he stressed to his boys more now than ever.

Ink flowed fluently across his notepad with quick notes and reminders just as his office door opened immediately making him pause and raise the .9 mm gun rest on top of his desk towards to the door lining it up perfectly with he intruders head.

But he felt short of pulling the trigger the second he realized who he was aiming at.

Smiling back with that southern charm Courtland found himself rolled his eyes and dropping his gun down.

"I just know you won't finna blow me." Daeshawn laughed to himself walking over to Court's desk with a little smirk in his face.

Sitting across from his old friend and business partner he leaned forwards hands folded together.

"So, how's it been? You look just as happy as a possum eatin' a sweet potato." Shawn teased making Court frown and cringe at this country bumpkin that found its way into his office.

"Daeshawn don't start that foolishness, what brings you here?" Courtland spoke without looking up from his notes prompting Shawn to keep talking.

"I can't come see my best friend?" It was times like this Courtland could really see Greg and Daeshawn being brothers and while it was endearing it was also quite annoying.

"No, no you can't."

"Quit bein' a sour asshole, actin' like youn love me."

"I wasn't aware that I did."
