Kayano screamed as she stabbed at Nagisa. With a flick of his tentacles, he pushed her away. The ice melted, steam building and creating a smoke screen between them. Kayano continued to stab down, growing more desperate as Nagisa dodged and moved swiftly around her wings.
In turns of power, Kayano could easily outmatch him. There was no way he could beat her, but when she wasn't thinking, he had the upper hand. Two years of experiments and combat training, a stack of tricks and an urge to protect.
She couldn't beat him. Jumping out of the fog, Nagisa slammed her to the side. She crashed through the dirt, coughing as she growled, forcing herself up.
"This isn't you, Kayano. This is the Mind Parasite. It's a disease, but it can be treated if you just let me help."
Kayano let out a scream as she took to the sky. She flapped her wings, molten metal falling down like a meteor shower. Nagisa dodged every attack.
"You think this is what your sister wanted? How pathetic? She was a good person; don't defile her memory." It was a different approach, but he was running out of approaches.
Kayano shook her head. "You didn't even meet her." Another flap, another rain of metal, as Nagisa used his tentacles to dodge. He burst up, kicking her to the ground.
"Yes, I did. I met her in the labs when she was the kindest. She helped us, she helped him!"
"Shut up!" Kayano twisted, trying to hit Nagisa as he sighed.
No reasoning, but that wasn't important. "You know, it's clear you weren't a member of the labs. You know why?"
Kayano screamed, plunging her wings down as they split the ground.
"You're not prepared for short-circuiting." Nagisa rubbed his tentacles together as the electricity sparked.
With one precise hit, just above the bulge on her neck, she went down. She screamed, unable to stay away as she collapsed.
Nagisa lowered himself to the ground, looking over her. "You should have let me help."
"Nagisa," Koro-sensei couldn't find the words.
Nagisa didn't answer with words. He pulled up his sleeve, showing him the tattoo. After a moment, Koro-sensei stretched out a tentacle. At first, nothing was different about it, and then the black tattoo appeared. 'T-43'.
Nagisa couldn't stop himself from laughing. "Damn, you're such a new model. You're me feel old."
Koro-sensei retrieved his arm. "What did you do?"
"Right, you never dealt with short-circuiting. It's when someone gets hit on the fine connections between our system and the experiment. The trauma temporarily knocks us out."
"We have to remove it."
Nagisa nodded, not noticing as Kayano pushed herself up, her shaky arms barely supporting herself. Koro-sensei reached forward, about to pull Nagisa into a protective hold, when someone else got there.
"Well damn, I thought you Extermination Clan members weren't the type to let your guard down." The lady grinned. Her skin was tough, barely feeling the attack Kayano had launched.
"Nagisa, restrain her," Esumi ordered as the cars pulled up. Nagisa wrapped his tentacles around Kayano, holding her in place as she screamed.
Esumi and Keiji rushed forward as Itona helped Koko hobble closer. "Are you sure about this?" He gave her an unsure look as she grinned.
"You doubt me?"
"I, for one, doubt you," a 30-ish-year-old male announced, standing with the newbies. Nagisa's eyes widened as he realised that it was Clan Instinct, which made him, A-07, Hidetada Rokuda and the lady who had protected them, A-15, Ikue Nakayama.
