Part 33~The Strongest

The students gathered in the field, Kayano already waiting for them. "You came! Now, let's end this!"

"Kayano, it's far too dangerous for you to use your tentacles any more than you already have. If we don't remove them and treat you immediately, your life could be in danger."

Kayano let out an annoyed sound. "You sound like him. I don't get it. I feel better than ever. Stop trying to upset me with your stupid bluffs."

"Kayano," Kanzaki called out, a sad look on her face. "We all had so much fun together. We even helped each other get past the tough times. Was that all an act?"

"Every last second. No matter what, I'm an actress. When those delinquents kidnapped me, I could barely keep myself from killing them, but I put up with it and pretended to be a weak little girl. I was going to pretend a bit longer, study you a bit more, but with him breathing down my neck, I couldn't wait and risk my revenge for my sister."

"Your sister? Do you mean Miss Yukimura?" Fuwa spoke slowly as Kayano hummed.

"I bet you really regret killing my sister, monster. She absolutely loved teaching. She even told me a bit about the class."

"I know what you mean. I only knew her for two weeks last March, but her passion really shone through," Takebayashi said slowly as Sugino nodded.

"But come on guys, think about it. Would Koro-sensei really just kill such an awesome teacher? All year long, he hasn't done anything that awful."

"Kayano didn't respond as Kurahashi spoke. "Hey, at least listen to what he has to say for himself, Kaede."

Karma nodded. "Yeah, he's so special they came crying to me while I was suspended, but still, are you really sure about this? I just don't see how this could possibly turn out well for you."

Kayano looked ready to fall over. Her body was sweating, and she was overheating.

"Kayano. You feel hot, right? But your neck is cold. It's an abnormality in the metabolism of everyone with tentacle implants. Fighting in your condition is not a good idea. You'll lose control of the fever and the pain, then the tentacles-wings things will suck away your life force, and you'll die," Koro-sensei announced as Kayano flicked her wings and they caught on fire.

"Shut up. Background characters shouldn't be meddling in the final battle."

"Please tell me we have a plan." Esumi deposited Koko in the car as Arika and Jin hopped in the back.

"I have a plan," Nagisa answered when he stopped, staring at Keiji. "What's wrong?"

"The fight. It's started. We won't make it in time."

Nagisa chewed his lip before taking off his jacket. "I will. Get there as soon as you can." Nagisa turned when Koko grabbed him.

"You cannot take her on alone. She is way powerful and going insane."

Nagisa smiled. "You forget, I was a part of Clan Extermination. The strongest clan there is, and I don't have to beat her. I just have to slow her down enough for you to arrive."

Keiji did not look happy as he pulled Nagisa close. "Don't let her kill you."

"Never." After a moment of hesitation, Nagisa grabbed Keiji's collar, pulling him down into a proper kiss. Her grinned as he stepped away. "There, now, if I die, I can at least say I kissed you once."

Keiji was dying inside as Nagisa's tentacles slipped out, and he disappeared.

"Come on," Itona shouted as Keiji shook his head and jumped in the car, chasing after Kayano as fast as they could.

"Any weakness or flaw can be a weapon if you polish it right. You're the one who taught me that, Koro-sensei. If my body gets too hot to beat, I'll just get even hotter and turn completely into tentacles."

"No! Any more and you'll-" Koro-sensei couldn't finish as Kayano smiled.

"I'm in perfect shape." She flicked out her tentacles as the fire burst out, creating the area between her and the students.

"Stop it, Kayano! This is wrong!" Yada shook her head as the tears fell. "We all studied together. If you sacrifice yourself just to kill him, there'll be nothing left of you."

"I'm not sacrificing anything. Just killing this monster. When I focus on something, I really get into it." Kayano charged forward, her tentacles hitting Koro-sensei and forcing him back. The flames burnt at his skin as she hit him into the ground. He didn't have time to react as they showered down from above, creating a centre point of destruction.

Kayano was losing herself. She was losing her purpose. Those who didn't know what to look for didn't see how the bulge at her neck was consuming her body, and her her body was overheating. She would be dead soon.

"What now, Koro-sensei?! My head doesn't hurt anymore! The pain feels so good! Go on! Die Koro-sensei! Die! Die! Die!"

"I swear she looks more likely to kill herself," Maehara muttered as he watched the fight.

"That's because she is."

He let out a scream as Nagisa prepared from nowhere. His hair was still down, but the tentacles weren't out. "The Mind Parasite is consuming her. She'll soon be a fighting corpse."

The students who heard him stared in horror. "What are you talking about."

Nagisa took a deep breath. "Kaeda! That is enough!"

Kayano froze for a second before she spotted Nagisa. "I'll kill you next." It was a simple announcement, but it scared everyone to the core.

"I feared that would be your answer, but you should not. No one is dying today." Nagisa took a deep breath as Kayano laughed.

"What can you do?!"

"You've forgotten. I'm Nagisa. A member of the Protection Clan and the longest existing experiment to date. I could beat you blindfolded."

Before Kayano could respond, Nagisa was gone, and Koro-sensei was no longer beneath her. The tentacles rose around Nagisa as Koro-sensei stared in horror.

Nagisa smiled as he put Koro-sensei down. "Don't worry. We made a vow. No one else dies because of them. That includes you both. So tonight, no one dies."
