You lay in your bed, burning up and sweating profusely. An irritating tiredness seeped throughout your body as you could barely raise your hand to take a drink from the glass of water next to you. You thought back to the incident that caused this mess cursing mentally at the snake man who was currently destroying your kitchen.
-------------------------------------------------------------
You lay silently by the side of the river, the sun trickled along your face as you smiled lightly at the serene feeling. You could hear the light flow of the river and the calls of the birds. It was truly blissful... until it wasn't. Large splashing sounds resonated from by your feet. Shanks lumbered around in the water like a bear catching the fish that passed by his tail haphazardly. You sighed lightly as you slowly got up from your position on the ground, only to be met with the sight of no Shanks. You looked around frantically for him, eyes scanning all the places he once was. You were about to turn around before you heard a devious giggle from behind you as you were pushed into the river.
A startled yelp left your lips as you connected with the cold water beneath you. That stupidly fast and sneaky snake. You had no spare clothes, and your house is at least ten minutes away. An angry expression crossed your face as you got out of the water, shivering violently in the now cold feeling air. You grabbed onto Shank's shoulders violently, shaking him back and forth whilst cursing him out.
"You idiot Shanks. I have no spare clothes and the house is so far away. At this rate, I am going to come down with a cold, you blithering idiot." You spoke harshly, but without shouting. Shanks rubbed his head bashfully. Sometimes, he forgets you humans aren't as resilient as him. The next few moments, he grabbed you in his arm, rushing you home in hopes you wouldn't succumb to illness though you did eventually come down with a fever. It was the thought that mattered.

The clattering in the kitchen slowly died down as the creaking in the floorboards indicated that your snake man was entering the room. He pushed the door open lightly, a bowl of soup, and a wet rag in his hand. You smiled lightly at him as he moved closer to where you lay on the bed. He placed the bowl of soup that was so ever haphazardly presented on the table by your side, gently placing the new rag on your forehead. It had taken him over an hour to make the soup, but you would never fault your Shanks. He tried his hardest for you, and that is what mattered.
You grabbed his face lightly, kissing him on the cheek, a thank you for his help. He smiled brightly at the affection, helping you sight up straight so you could have the soup. He helped place it I yout hands as you slowly took a spoonfuls of it to your mouth. The taste was bitter and unappealing. It was very unlike the soup from the recipe he followed. You coughed lightly, a chuckle leaving your lips. God, he couldn't even follow a recipe, you thought. He truly is helpless. He looked at you warily as he lightly touched your forehead.
"I am fine, Shanks. I just didn't expect the soup to be so hot is all."
"Don't scare me like that, lass. So is the soup to your liking. I followed the instructions and added all the ingredients required."
"It is lovely. Shanks now, go and do your own thing for while you have been bothering over me for a week, and you have had no time for yourself. I know I am on the mend, so don't you worry. Maybe go see your crew. It has been a while."
He grumbled lightly but agreed
"Fine."
