"Why haven't you given this to Hazel instead?"

Duchess Penelope gasped and began to interrupt you, but the Duke quieted her and watched as Caleb got angry while Roman rolled his eyes at the comment you made.

"Are you saying that Hazel is my mistress? She is much better than that! My brother and I will not take that insult for her sake!"

you smiled gently, your eyes showing indifference.

Unfortunately, in the case of the soul inhabiting this body, the people surrounding you thought you were dejected because Caleb was affectionate to Hazel more than you.

"I was not claiming that my lord," you stated to make the Duke and Duchess assume that he had forced you into speaking to him formally. "I was just assuming that you favored Miss Hazel more than you did me since you made no protest when Lord Roman had demanded me to give her a greeting as if I was committing a social crime whilst not exchanging greetings."

"She is not related to this family, yet, according to the treatment from the maids and the butler for the past few weeks, I am below her? I am sorry if I have offended you but with a gift like that, any rational person would assume it is for a person favored more than them."

Caleb stayed quiet, looking at [Name] Lila as a different woman.

Before you had moved into the Vaughn Manor, you had constantly run towards him at balls while Roman stood beside him. Caleb despised your attention towards him because if you wanted to speak with Roman you didn't have to exploit him to do it. But now it was as if you didn't care about either of them anymore.
