The sky shone brightly, the stars illuminating the night sky. But this was no loud, busy night. It was quiet. At least, it was quiet where the 2 most powerful beings on the isles were. Sitting on an old palistrom log that was long forgotten by the rest of the world, was King and The Collector. Immortal being and semi-immortal being, hanging out. It was a nice night. After all the fighting, they could just hang out. The Collector didn't have to go around making the world a playground, and King didn't have to scheme and figure out ways to save the world. They could just... be. Do things together, in a normal world. The night was perfect. All worries were forgotten, and relaxation was prime.
King looked over at his friend. He could not think how lucky he was. A friend. One that would be with him forever. The others couldn't live forever after all. Except Hooty, maybe he would still exist, but that was an entirely different thing to think about. Plus, The Collector was a kind of good person. Just misguided, and scorned by the others he knew. Alone. Abandoned. Why did that have to feel so familiar...
The Collector looked at his friend. The last of the Titans. He was happy King didn't hate him, but still... he was a component in the reason King grew up so alone. He knew his siblings betrayed him to some degree, but King shouldn't have had to think that he was tossed out like trash. What a disgusting lie. He couldn't bear to think of the sins he had committed against and to his species. Plus, he further ruined the world by turning it into an apocalyptic hell-scape. Puppets, and stars, and messed up environments. The Collector started to break. There wasn't a way he could make it up to King. There wasn't. At least, that's what he thought.
"Umm... King?" The Collector asked. "Yeah buddy? What's up?" Kind responded. Buddy. He called him buddy. Oof, how unfortunate. His eyes filled with innocence and curiosity, when there was every reason it should have been anger, fear, and sadness. "Do you... hate me?" "Weh!? Collector! You know I don't!" King said with solitude. "I've said it once, and I'll say it again, you are my friend. Nothing could change that." "But I've been so horrible to you, and everyone! I ca-" The Collector was cutoff by King pounding into him with a hug. "Collector, I love you. I may have reason to hate you, but I don't. You are my friend. And as the, uh, umm, king of demons, I order you to, um, not feel bad?" King said with a less than sure voice. "Heh heh, you always had a way with words." The Collector giggled, tears leaking from his eyes.
Once they stopped snuggling, they sat back on the palistrom branch, and looked at the stars. King scooted closer. "You really are a good friend." The Collector's eyes filled with curiosity. "Really? How?" "You cared about me. You've stood up for me. You've tried to make me happy. You sound like a good friend in my book." "But am I?" "Yes. Yes, you are, friend." They looked at the stars, and the beautiful environment, and held hands. It truly was a beautiful friendship.
