"Weh!" King woke up with a gasp. He remembered what today was. The day Eda had told him about. He raced down to the living room. He didn't know the day of his actual conception, but he knew the day he was found by... her. The day he would never forget (though he kinda did). He tripped over the long neck of the bird-worm, and didn't care. He ran into the room. He was greeted by his beloved friends, who he might as well have been royalty to, the way he was treated. "All hail King! The greatest of titans, the chiefest of plushies, and the king of demons!" Hooty screeched, though for once, King wasn't actually bothered by it. "Ya lil rascal! Come 'ere!" Eda yelled, dive bombing King. She tumbled to the ground, and cuddled him. She stood up, still holding him in her arms. "You truly did the greatest crime I could think of... you stole my heart." Eda said. King could swear he saw a tear in her eyes. "That was some romance book stuff, right there." Luz whispered to Amity and Raine. They all partied for a while. King shared a dance with Francois, dined on the greatest of meals with Luz and Eda, and "reported" on every crazy thing happening at the party with Gus. Though King didn't think it necessary, they did a sort of "honor" speech (King tried not to think he was at a funeral). "You helped me open up to others." Eda shared. "You gave me some adorable smiles." Luz shared. "You gave me eye-opening experiences." Hooty shared. "You gave me inspiration." Gus shared. "You gave us plenty of laughs." Everyone shared. "You also gave me some sick bread puns!" Luz said. King was so happy, it felt like a dream. But that was too cliche, he thought. He felt loved. By everyone. Everyone was here. Everyone... except one. Suddenly, the room began to spin. Strange, dark blue glows filled the room where the shadows had once been. Strange patterns shined through the walls. King saw stars, moons, and suns. A beam of light shown through the sky. Coming down from the heavens, with starlight shining all around him, was The Collector. The wind that came out of nowhere stopped blowing. All the furniture stopped floating. Everyone's breath was stopped holding. "You were my friend." The Collector said. "You, and others," He glanced at Luz and Eda. "Were so kind to me. You didn't pick on me like my siblings, and you didn't lie to me like Belos. You were my best friend. AM. My best friend." The Collector cried, the tears flowing down his cheeks, though these weren't of fear, or sadness, but JOY. King jumped into The Collector's arms, hugging him tightly. "Thank you." King whispered that only he and The Collector could hear. "No, thank YOU." The Collector replied. King pulled back, now fully and thoroughly covered in tears. "Alright, everyone bring it in." Luz's eyes sparkled, and she may as well have jumped into the mix. Everyone came in normally. "Happy Birthday, King." Luz, Eda, and The Collector said. King, surrounded by his friends, and his family, was no longer alone. They were his subjects, his people. And he was their messiah, their friend, their king. Their child of the isles. And in that moment, King cried. He cried the only word he could say. "Weh!"
